New Porsche 911 Speedster Confirmed For Production

It will be based on the 911 GT3 and will be limited to just 1,948 examples when it arrives. The 991.2 GT3 based special edition made its debut of the 2018 Paris Motor Show designed as another 70th-anniversary edition to the manufacturer’s current lineup.

This car is the 991’s swansong before Porsche move onto the next generation, and it sure looks like to make for a grand final curtain call. It has been ten years since Porsche has produced a car with the speedster title, and this edition looks unlikely to disappoint. Powered by a 4.0-litre flat-six from the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS, the $274,500 Speedster will get individual throttle bodies which are supposed to aggressively sharpen the response of the engine’s claimed 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque.

If you manage to purchase one of these cars, you will also be lucky enough to receive the Porsche Design 911 Speedster Chronograph. This car probably doesn’t need an exclusive watch to help sales, but it will be a welcome bonus.
