Diagram Ref No 1

Located within the rear A/C refrigerant circuit, this pressure line carries pressurised refrigerant between components of the climate-control system. Correct refrigerant circulation is essential for the air-conditioning system to remove heat from the cabin and provide effective cooling.

As an original Porsche replacement component, the line is intended to restore the correct routing, sealing and pressure integrity of the factory air-conditioning system when the existing pipe has become corroded, damaged or has developed a refrigerant leak.

What This Product Does:
The air-conditioning system operates by continuously circulating refrigerant through a closed circuit containing the compressor, condenser, expansion components and evaporator.

This pressure line forms part of that sealed refrigerant circuit and transports refrigerant under pressure to the appropriate A/C components.

Its functions include:

  • Carrying pressurised A/C refrigerant through the system
  • Maintaining a sealed refrigerant circuit
  • Supporting correct operation of the rear air-conditioning system
  • Helping maintain the required refrigerant pressure
  • Allowing efficient heat transfer and cabin cooling
  • Maintaining the original factory refrigerant routing
  • Providing a secure connection between A/C components

If the line cannot maintain a proper seal, refrigerant can escape and air-conditioning performance will progressively deteriorate.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
A/C refrigerant lines can deteriorate because of corrosion, vibration, road debris, repeated heat cycles or damage to connections and seals.

Common symptoms of a failing pressure line include:

  • Air-conditioning no longer blowing cold air
  • Reduced or inconsistent cooling performance
  • Rear A/C noticeably warmer than expected
  • Refrigerant level repeatedly becoming low
  • A/C requiring frequent recharging
  • Visible corrosion on the refrigerant pipe
  • Cracks, dents or physical damage to the line
  • Oily residue around the pipe or connection points
  • Refrigerant dye visible around a leaking joint
  • Hissing from the A/C system after shutdown
  • Compressor cycling on and off more frequently than normal
  • A/C system refusing to engage because refrigerant pressure is too low
  • Loss of cooling shortly after the system has been recharged

An oily deposit is a common visual indication of leakage because small quantities of compressor oil circulate with the refrigerant and may escape with it.

Why Replacement Matters:

  • The air-conditioning system must remain sealed to operate correctly. Even a small leak in a pressure line allows refrigerant to escape, gradually reducing the system's ability to cool the cabin.
  • Operating the system with insufficient refrigerant can also reduce lubrication circulation through the compressor. If refrigerant loss is ignored for an extended period, this can contribute to more expensive A/C system problems.
  • Replacing a leaking or corroded pressure line helps restore the sealed refrigerant circuit and enables the system to be correctly evacuated, leak-tested and recharged to the specified refrigerant quantity.
  • Replacement is particularly important where corrosion has weakened the pipe, as a minor leak can eventually develop into a more substantial failure and lead to complete loss of air-conditioning performance.
  • Because the A/C system contains refrigerant under pressure, servicing and recharging should be carried out using appropriate refrigerant recovery and charging equipment.
