High-quality GKN inner CV joint boot kit for early Porsche Panamera 970.1 all-wheel-drive models, designed as a replacement for Porsche OE reference 97034925900.
The GKNB20641 is fitted to the inner, transmission-side CV joint of the front driveshaft and is suitable for use on either the front-left or front-right side.
The CV joint boot is an essential protective component of the driveshaft assembly. It keeps the specialised CV joint grease contained around the joint while preventing water, dirt, road debris and other contaminants from entering.
A damaged or split boot can quickly lead to grease loss and contamination of the CV joint. If left unattended, this can cause accelerated wear and may eventually require replacement of the complete CV joint or driveshaft.
What Does the CV Joint Boot Do?
The constant-velocity joint allows the driveshaft to transfer power while accommodating movement between the drivetrain, suspension and wheel. To operate correctly, the joint requires specialised grease and must remain protected against contamination.
The flexible CV boot creates this protective seal while allowing the driveshaft and joint to move naturally during normal vehicle operation.
The GKNB20641 is positioned on the inner end of the front driveshaft, closest to the transmission / differential.
Why Replace a Damaged CV Boot?
CV boots are continuously exposed to:
• Heat Road dirt Water and moisture
• Repeated flexing
• Drivetrain movement
• Grease and other automotive fluids
Changes in temperature Over time, the boot material may become cracked, split or damaged. Common signs of a failing CV boot include:
• Visible cracks or splits
• Grease leaking around the driveshaft
• Grease deposited on surrounding suspension components
• Loose or damaged retaining clamps
• Dirt or moisture entering the joint
• Clicking or knocking noises
• Vibration under acceleration
• Excessive drivetrain play
Replacing a damaged boot early can help preserve an otherwise serviceable CV joint and avoid the additional expense of replacing the complete driveshaft.
