Fabspeed Race Headers.
The Fabspeed Porsche 997.2 Carrera Race Headers are high-performance, catless exhaust headers developed for Porsche 997.2 Carrera models from 2009–2012. Designed primarily for track-oriented vehicles, they replace the restrictive factory header and catalytic-converter assemblies with a freer-flowing stainless-steel exhaust system.

Fits:
  • Porsche 997 MKII Carrera C2 3.6L 2009-12
  • Porsche 997 MKII Carrera C4 3.6L 2009-12
  • Porsche 997 MKII Carrera C2S 3.8L 2009-12
  • Porsche 997 MKII Carrera C4S 3.8L 2009-12

By removing the factory catalytic converters and improving exhaust-gas flow from the cylinder heads, the Race Headers are designed to reduce exhaust restriction, improve scavenging and allow the naturally aspirated flat-six engine to breathe more efficiently.

What This Product Does:

Exhaust headers collect the gases leaving each engine cylinder and direct them into the remainder of the exhaust system.

The design and flow characteristics of the headers can have a significant effect on how efficiently a naturally aspirated engine expels exhaust gases.

The Fabspeed Race Headers replace the factory header and catalytic-converter assemblies with a performance-oriented catless design intended to reduce restriction.

Their purpose is to provide:

  • Increased exhaust flow
  • Improved exhaust scavenging
  • Reduced backpressure
  • Increased horsepower and torque
  • Improved engine response
  • Stronger performance through the rev range
  • Reduced exhaust-system weight
  • Increased exhaust volume
  • A more aggressive flat-six exhaust note

When Might Race Headers Be Worth Considering:
Unlike standard replacement headers, these components are primarily a performance modification.

They may be considered when:

  • Building a track-focused Porsche 997.2 Carrera
  • Maximum exhaust flow is desired
  • Increased horsepower and torque are required
  • A louder, more aggressive exhaust note is wanted
  • Reducing exhaust-system weight is important
  • Existing factory headers are damaged or deteriorated
  • A complete performance exhaust system is being installed

For a road car, legal and emissions requirements must be considered before choosing a catless exhaust configuration.

Why Replacement Or Upgrading Matters:
A damaged or leaking exhaust header can allow extremely hot exhaust gases to escape before they reach the remainder of the exhaust system.

This can cause:

  • Excessive exhaust noise
  • Soot deposits
  • Exhaust fumes
  • Reduced exhaust-system efficiency
  • Heat damage to nearby components
  • Poor sealing between exhaust components

Replacing damaged components restores the integrity of the exhaust system.

When upgrading to Fabspeed Race Headers on a suitable track vehicle, the replacement also provides the opportunity to reduce exhaust restriction, improve flow and increase performance.
