The Fabspeed Porsche 991.2 Carrera Valved Center Muffler Bypass X-Pipe is a performance exhaust upgrade developed specifically for 2017–2019 Porsche 991.2 Carrera 3.0L twin-turbo models originally equipped without Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE).
Fits:
- Porsche 991.2 Carrera 2 3.0L (370 Bhp) 2016-19
- Porsche 991.2 Carrera 4 3.0L (370 Bhp) 2016-19
- Porsche 991.2 Cabriolet 2 3.0L (370 Bhp) 2016-19
- Porsche 991.2 Cabriolet 4 3.0L (370 Bhp) 2016-19
- Porsche 991.2 Targa 4 3.0L (370 Bhp) 2016-19
The system replaces the large factory centre muffler section with a freer-flowing valved X-pipe arrangement, giving non-PSE cars the ability to switch between a more restrained exhaust character and a significantly more aggressive sports-car sound.
Manufactured from polished T304L stainless steel, the system uses premium UK-manufactured Helical vacuum-actuated exhaust valves and includes Fabspeed Deluxe Dual Style exhaust tips in a choice of finishes.
Fabspeed currently publishes:
- +17 horsepower
- +23 lb-ft torque
- 10 lb / 4.5 kg weight reduction
For a mechanically healthy vehicle, this product is primarily a sound, performance and weight-reduction upgrade, rather than a maintenance replacement.
What This Product Does:
The factory centre muffler reduces exhaust noise and provides the refinement expected from a standard road car.
The Fabspeed Valved Center Muffler Bypass replaces this restrictive centre section with a freer-flowing X-pipe and controllable exhaust valves.
The system is designed to:
- Increase exhaust flow
- Reduce centre-muffler restriction
- Increase exhaust sound
- Provide two different exhaust sound levels
- Increase horsepower and torque
- Reduce exhaust-system weight
- Enhance turbocharged flat-six character
- Retain the factory catalytic converters
- Maintain a direct bolt-on layout
- Upgrade the visible exhaust outlets with Deluxe Dual Style tips
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The factory muffler is exposed to substantial heat, moisture, vibration and repeated temperature changes.
Possible symptoms of deterioration include:
- Metallic rattling
- Internal muffler buzzing
- Exhaust blowing
- Hissing noises
- Cracked welds
- Corrosion
- Loose mounting brackets
- Black soot around leaking joints
- Exhaust vibration
- Muffler movement
- Exhaust tips sitting out of alignment
- Unexpected increase in exhaust noise
A metallic noise should be diagnosed carefully because heat shields, clamps or neighbouring exhaust components can cause similar symptoms.
Why Replacement Matters:
If the original centre muffler is physically damaged or leaking, replacement helps restore:
- A sealed exhaust path
- Correct exhaust alignment
- Secure mounting
- Controlled exhaust noise
- Proper clearance from surrounding components
Exhaust leaks can allow hot gases to escape close to heat-sensitive components and can create excessive noise or soot deposits.
However, if the original muffler is still healthy, installing the Fabspeed system is primarily an upgrade for sound, performance, valve control and weight reduction.
