Rocker arm for Porsche 911 1965–94 by OE Match, suitable for selected classic 911 and 964 engines where a direct-fit cam follower is required.
What This Product Does The rocker arm forms the mechanical link between the camshaft and the engine valves, transferring cam lobe movement to open and close the valves with controlled lift and timing.
Functions
- Transfers camshaft motion to the intake and exhaust valves
- Helps maintain accurate valve timing and lift
- Supports consistent combustion by controlling air and exhaust flow
- Works with lubrication to limit friction at the cam/rocker interface
Symptoms of Fault
- Persistent tapping or ticking from the valve train that does not improve after an oil change
- Valve train noise that increases with engine speed
- Uneven wear marks or pitting on rocker contact faces (seen during inspection)
- Misfire or rough running where valve lift is affected
- Metallic debris in engine oil indicating significant internal wear
- Difficulty maintaining correct valve clearance on adjustable systems
Why Replacement Matters Rocker arms are subject to continual load and motion, so wear can lead to noise, reduced valve control and potential damage to the camshaft or other valve train components. They are often renewed during top-end or full engine work, when access is available and related parts such as cams, guides and hardware are being inspected. Replacing worn rocker arms at this stage supports reliable valve timing and helps avoid repeat strip-downs.
