Designed to replace cracked, scratched, cloudy or otherwise damaged original mirror glass, it restores a clear rearward view while retaining the correct shape and appearance of the teardrop mirror housing.

This version uses flat glass, meaning it provides a natural, minimally distorted reflection rather than the wider-angle view produced by convex mirror glass.

The component is the mirror glass only, so the existing mirror housing, adjustment mechanism and associated mounting components must be serviceable.

What This Product Does:
The exterior mirror allows the driver to monitor traffic, vehicles and other objects alongside and behind the car.

The mirror glass provides the reflective surface within the teardrop mirror assembly.

Its main functions include:

  • Providing rearward and side visibility
  • Helping the driver check surrounding traffic
  • Supporting safer lane changes and manoeuvring
  • Providing a clear reflection of vehicles behind
  • Maintaining the original teardrop mirror appearance
  • Replacing damaged mirror glass without replacing the complete mirror assembly

Because this version is flat glass, objects appear with less optical distortion than they would through a convex mirror.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Exterior mirror glass is exposed to weather, vibration, washing, road contamination and accidental impact.

Common signs that replacement may be required include:

  • Cracked mirror glass
  • Chipped edges
  • Deep scratches
  • Stone-impact damage
  • Cloudy or hazy reflection
  • Deterioration of the reflective backing
  • Dark or discoloured areas around the edges
  • Water staining that cannot be removed
  • Mirror surface becoming dull
  • Distorted or unclear reflection
  • Glass becoming loose inside the mirror housing
  • Mirror glass vibrating while driving
  • Partial separation from its mounting
  • Broken glass following impact

Minor surface marks may only affect appearance, but cracks or deterioration in the reflective coating can significantly reduce visibility.

Why Replacement Matters:
Clear exterior mirrors are important for maintaining awareness of surrounding traffic.

Damaged or deteriorated glass can make it harder to identify:

  • Vehicles approaching from behind
  • Traffic in adjacent lanes
  • Cyclists and motorcycles
  • Obstacles when parking
  • Vehicles during reversing or manoeuvring
  • Cracked glass can also deteriorate further due to vibration and temperature changes.

Replacing damaged mirror glass restores a clear reflective surface and avoids the cost and unnecessary replacement of the entire mirror assembly where the housing and mechanism remain serviceable.
