What This Product Does

The cover fits to the rear axle housing around the spring plate and outer torsion-bar bushing. It helps retain the bushing in its working position while shielding the surrounding mounting area from road dirt and moisture. Correct installation supports consistent spring-plate location and suspension geometry.

Functions

  • Secures the outer round bushing at the rear spring plate.
  • Covers the torsion-bar housing and adjacent mounting area.
  • Provides centre access through the open cover design.
  • Supports correct spring-plate positioning.
  • Fits either the left or right side of the rear axle assembly.

Technical Details

  • Component type: rear torsion-bar or spring-plate cover.
  • Configuration: open cover with centre hole.
  • Finish colour: black.
  • Bushing profile: round.
  • Installation position: rear axle, left or right.
  • Vehicle quantity: two covers are shown in the relevant factory assembly diagrams.

Symptoms of Fault

  • Corrosion, cracking or distortion around the cover.
  • Movement at the spring plate or outer bushing.
  • Knocking or clunking from the rear suspension over uneven surfaces.
  • Perished, compressed or displaced supporting rubber.
  • Difficulty maintaining the intended rear ride height or alignment.
  • Damaged or seized mounting hardware around the cover plate.

Why Replacement Matters

A damaged or heavily corroded cover may no longer locate the outer bushing correctly. Renewal during a rear suspension overhaul helps restore the assembly and prevents a worn cover from being refitted with new bushes or related hardware. Inspect the spring plate, bushing, torsion bar and fasteners at the same time, as noise or movement may involve more than one component. Alignment and ride height should be checked after substantial torsion-bar or spring-plate work.

FAQs

  • Is this an open or closed cover?
This is the open version, manufactured with a centre hole.
  • Can it be installed on either side?
Yes. The cover is specified for left- or right-hand rear installation, with two used on the vehicle.
  • Should the bushing be inspected during replacement?
Yes. Check the round outer bushing, spring plate and mounting hardware for wear, corrosion or damage before assembly.
  • Is alignment required afterwards?
An alignment and ride-height check is advisable if the spring plate, torsion bar or its adjustment has been disturbed.
