Fuel Tank 62ltr

Restore the safety, reliability and originality of your Porsche fuel system with this OE Match 62 Litre Fuel Tank, designed for selected classic Porsche 911 models. Manufactured to original equipment specifications, this replacement petrol tank provides the correct fit, capacity and mounting points required for a proper factory-style installation.

Fits:

  • Porsche 911 1965-1968 2.0L / 912 SWB (F)
  • Porsche 911 1968-1973 2.2L / 2.4L / 2.7L RS LWB (F)

The Aftermarket version does not have an internal
filter. The fuel tank design has changed over the years so you might need a Fuel Tank Installation Kit (65-75) Fuel tank installation kit is required when replacing gas tank (911.201.904.00) in 1965-1975 cars.

A sound fuel tank is essential for safe fuel storage, consistent fuel delivery and long-term vehicle reliability. Whether you are restoring a classic 911, repairing corrosion damage or replacing a leaking tank, this OE Match 62 litre fuel tank is an ideal replacement solution.

What Does the Fuel Tank Do?

The fuel tank stores petrol safely and supplies fuel to the engine through the fuel delivery system. It is designed to:

  • Store fuel securely within the vehicle.
  • Maintain a reliable fuel supply to the engine.
  • Work with the fuel sender, filler neck and outlet fittings.
  • Help prevent fuel vapour and liquid fuel leaks.
  • Support safe operation of the complete fuel system.

A correctly sealed and corrosion-free fuel tank is critical for both performance and safety.

Why Do Fuel Tanks Fail?

Fuel tanks can deteriorate over time due to age, moisture and internal contamination. Common causes of failure include:

  • Internal corrosion caused by old fuel and condensation.
  • External rust from road dirt, moisture and stone chips.
  • Blocked or contaminated fuel outlets.
  • Damaged seams or mounting points.
  • Perished seals around the sender or fittings.
  • Accident damage or poor previous repairs.

Older vehicles that have been stored for long periods are especially prone to internal rust and fuel contamination.

When Should the Fuel Tank Be Replaced?

The fuel tank should be inspected during restoration work, fuel system repairs or whenever fuel contamination is suspected. Replacement is recommended if you notice:

  • Fuel leaks or petrol smell.
  • Visible rust or corrosion.
  • Contaminated fuel filters.
  • Blocked fuel lines.
  • Flaking internal tank coating.
  • Poor fuel delivery.
  • Damage around the seams, outlet or mounting points.

Replacing a deteriorated fuel tank helps protect the fuel pump, carburettors or fuel injection system from rust particles and debris.

OE Match Quality You Can Trust

This OE Match fuel tank offers:

  • 62ltr fuel capacity.
  • Manufactured to OE-style dimensions.
  • Direct replacement for selected Porsche 911 models.
  • Correct fitment for restoration and repair.
  • Durable construction for long service life.
  • Ideal for classic Porsche fuel system refurbishment.

Fuel tank seal.
Engineered to match the original Porsche specifications with the correct profile, flexibility and length to ensure a perfect OEM-style fit. It restores proper isolation of the tank, supports correct tank seating, and prevents bodywork chafing or corrosion around the tank opening.

Fits:
Porsche 911/912 1965 - 1969
Porsche 911 1970 - 1973
Porsche 911 1974 - 1989

Diagram Ref No 13.

Position: Front trunk area — sits around the fuel tank flange/outside perimeter between the tank and body panel.

Function: Seals the tank to the chassis opening, blocks fumes/dust, prevents metal contact and reduces vibration.

With age, the original tank seal becomes brittle, flattened or cracked, leading to:
Fuel smell or vapour infiltration in the cabin
Water or dust entering the luggage compartment
Corrosion or abrasion at the tank edge
Poor tank fitment and increased vibration

Replacing it with a correct  seal restores proper sealing, protects the bodywork and maintains original Porsche build quality.

About Fuel Tank & Parts

Fuel Tanks & Components – Reliable Fuel Storage and Performance for Porsche Vehicles

Your Porsche’s fuel tank is the foundation of its fuel system, storing and supplying petrol safely to the engine. Working alongside essential components such as tank straps, seals, fittings, filters, and breather valves, the fuel tank ensures efficient flow, pressure stability, and safety in every driving condition.

At Design911, we offer a wide range of fuel tanks and replacement parts designed for Porsche models across generations — from air-cooled classics to high-performance GT cars. Each component is built from corrosion-resistant materials to deliver long-lasting durability, leak-free sealing, and reliable performance.

Whether you’re restoring a vintage 911 or maintaining a modern Porsche, our manufacturer-quality tanks and fittings provide superior build quality and exact fitment for peace of mind and long-term reliability.

What Do Fuel Tanks and Their Components Do?

The fuel tank stores petrol and ensures safe, uninterrupted supply to the fuel pump and injection system. Supporting parts such as hoses, straps, seals, and sensors maintain pressure balance and structural integrity.

Core Functions:

  • Stores and protects fuel from contamination and evaporation.
  • Provides consistent delivery to the fuel pump and injectors.
  • Ventilation and pressure regulation via breather systems.
  • Ensures safe operation through leak prevention and corrosion resistance.

A properly functioning tank and its fittings are vital for engine performance, efficiency, and safety — especially in performance-focused Porsche engines.

Why Do Fuel Tanks and Components Fail?

Fuel tanks and fittings are constantly exposed to harsh conditions — fuel vapours, moisture, and road debris — all of which can lead to deterioration over time.

Common Causes of Failure Include:

  • Corrosion and rust due to moisture and ethanol-blended fuels.
  • Cracked hoses or fittings, leading to leaks and pressure loss.
  • Deteriorated seals or gaskets causing vapour emissions or odours.
  • Physical damage from road debris or accidents.
  • Internal contamination from old fuel or sediment buildup.

Symptoms of fuel tank issues include fuel smells, visible leaks, poor pressure, or inconsistent fuel delivery, all of which affect performance and safety.

Why Replace with Precision-Engineered Fuel Tanks and Parts?

Upgrading or replacing damaged or aged components restores the integrity and safety of your Porsche’s fuel system. Our precision-fit, corrosion-resistant tanks and parts are designed to maintain proper fuel delivery and ventilation while preventing leaks and emissions.

Key Benefits:

  • Restores reliable fuel storage and pressure regulation.
  • Prevents leaks, vapour loss, and performance issues.
  • Improves fuel efficiency and drivability.
  • Constructed from high-grade steel or composite materials.
  • Direct-fit replacement for classic and modern Porsche models.
  • Long-lasting protection against corrosion and vibration damage.

Essential for restorations and repairs, these components help ensure your Porsche continues to perform with precision and confidence.

Highlights:

  • High-quality Porsche fuel tanks and replacement components.
  • Corrosion- and pressure-resistant construction.
  • Direct-fit compatibility for a wide range of Porsche models.
  • Ensures safe, efficient fuel storage and delivery.
  • Ideal for restorations, upgrades, and maintenance projects.
  • Designed for long-term reliability and performance.
