Through bolt o-ring installer for Porsche 911

Installing O-rings on the through bolts for a 911 engine case often slices the rings on the threads of the bolt, leading to ripped seals at best, or a leaky engine at worst. Use this cap to protect the O-ring and to insure a factory quality seal. Precisely machined from quality brass.

Stomski Racing SR024 Through bolt o-ring installer with sleeve for Porsche 911

Based on the factory P9511 tool, STOMSKI RACING's version of this tool incorporates a brass cap and a double-ended stainless steel sleeve to install the o-rings on the crankcase through-bolts of the 3.6 and later cases (but possibly can be used on some other 911 engines). By using the included brass cap to protect the delicate o-ring from getting cut on the threads of the bolt, you then use the "thin" end of the sleeve to slide the o-ring over the brass cap onto the shank of the through-bolt. Once the o-ring is clear of the threads, remove the SR024 brass cap and flip the SR024 stainless steel sleeve over and use the blunted end to securely and gently seat the o-ring in the recess on the 3.6 case.

This Adapt Motorsport Turbo Sump Plate is a CNC-machined aluminium engine cover for air-cooled Porsche 911 turbo applications. The turbo version incorporates two ORB 8 side fittings for dedicated turbo oil-drain connections.

Fits

  • 911 1975–1977 3.0L Turbo (930)
  • 911 1978–1983 3.3L Turbo (930)

What This Product Does

The plate closes the lower engine sump area while providing two integrated ORB 8 side ports for routing turbocharger oil drains. It has the same depth as the Adapt Motorsport Version 2 deep sump plate and is compatible with SC or 3.2 Carrera /turbo oil-pump arrangements.

Functions

  • Provides a machined lower cover for the engine sump area
  • Incorporates two side-mounted ORB 8 turbo oil-drain fittings
  • Supports installations using SC oil pumps
  • Accommodates 3.2 and Turbo oil-pump configurations
  • Replaces an ageing, dented or corroded pressed-steel cover
  • Provides a flush-mounted sump plug for servicing access

Technical Details

  • Version 3 Turbo Sump Plate from Adapt Motorsport
  • CNC-machined aluminium construction
  • Dark grey anodised surface finish
  • Two ORB 8 side fittings for turbo oil drains
  • Same plate depth as the Version 2 deep sump design
  • Supplied as a fitting kit with gasket, nuts and washers

Symptoms of Fault

  • Corrosion or heavy surface deterioration on the original pressed-steel plate
  • Dents or distortion around the sump-cover sealing face
  • Oil seepage from the plate perimeter or drain-plug area
  • Damaged or worn drain-plug threads
  • A requirement for dedicated turbocharger oil-return connections
  • Recurring leakage after resealing a warped original cover

Why Replacement Matters

A damaged or distorted sump plate can make reliable sealing difficult and allow oil seepage around the lower engine cover. This aluminium Porsche 911 turbo sump plate provides a rigid machined replacement together with twin ORB 8 oil-drain ports, removing the need to adapt a standard plate for suitable turbo engine builds. The gasket and mating surface should be checked carefully during installation, ideally while completing an oil change and inspecting the related pump and strainer arrangement.

Application Focus

This component is suitable where a Porsche 911 turbo sump cover with twin ORB 8 oil drains is required. Its specification also makes it relevant to air-cooled 911 engine builds using an SC oil pump or a 3.2/Turbo oil pump, subject to confirming the complete engine and oil-system configuration.

FAQs

  • Is this the standard sump-plate version? No. This is the dedicated Turbo version with two ORB 8 side fittings.
  • Which oil pumps can be used? Its depth allows use with SC or 3.2/Turbo oil-pump configurations.
  • Are turbo oil-drain ports included? Yes. Two ORB 8 side fittings are integrated into the plate.
  • What is the plate made from? It is CNC-machined from aluminium and has an anodised finish.
  • Is fitting hardware supplied? The manufacturer specifies a kit containing the gasket, nuts and washers.

About Crankcase Parts

Precision Crankcase Parts – Strength, Balance, and Reliability for Porsche Engines

The crankcase forms the core of every Porsche engine, housing key rotating components such as the crankshaft, bearings, and connecting rods. It provides structural rigidity, oil containment, and precise alignment for the engine’s moving parts — making it critical to both performance and longevity.

At Design911, we offer a wide range of precision-engineered crankcase components, including bearing shells, seals, breather valves, dowels, plugs, and fasteners, all manufactured to exacting tolerances. Each part is crafted from high-strength, heat-resistant materials to ensure lasting durability and performance under the most demanding driving conditions.

Whether you’re restoring an air-cooled 911 or maintaining a modern 992, our manufacturer-quality crankcase parts ensure perfect fitment, oil-tight sealing, and reliable performance for years to come.

What Do Crankcase Parts Do?

Crankcase components perform vital structural and lubrication roles within the engine, protecting internal parts and maintaining pressure balance.

Core Functions:

  • House and support the crankshaft, connecting rods, and bearings.
  • Contain and distribute oil to lubricate moving components.
  • Maintain structural rigidity to prevent vibration and misalignment.
  • Control crankcase ventilation to reduce oil contamination and pressure build-up.

In performance and classic Porsche engines alike, the crankcase ensures stability, smooth rotation, and reliable oil management — key to consistent power and reduced wear.

Why Do Crankcase Parts Fail?

Over time, crankcase components can degrade due to heat cycles, vibration, oil contamination, and mechanical fatigue. When neglected, these failures can lead to oil leaks, pressure imbalance, and even catastrophic engine damage.

Common Causes of Failure Include:

  • Oil seal wear causing leaks and pressure loss.
  • Bearing fatigue from prolonged high load or low oil pressure.
  • Warped surfaces due to overheating or corrosion.
  • Clogged breather valves causing pressure build-up and oil blow-by.
  • Fastener fatigue leading to structural loosening or vibration.

Replacing worn crankcase parts during an engine rebuild or maintenance interval is essential to preserve oil control, alignment, and crankshaft integrity.

Why Replace with Precision-Engineered Crankcase Parts?

High-quality crankcase components ensure your Porsche engine retains its strength, sealing capability, and precise alignment — essential for performance, reliability, and longevity.

Key Benefits:

  • Restores internal alignment for smooth crankshaft rotation.
  • Prevents oil leaks and pressure loss, maintaining engine performance.
  • Improves lubrication control and bearing life.
  • Reduces vibration and noise caused by worn or loose components.
  • Crafted from corrosion- and heat-resistant materials for lasting strength.
  • Perfect fitment and tolerance for air-cooled and water-cooled Porsche engines.

Engineers and restorers trust precision crankcase parts to maintain Porsche’s legendary reliability and mechanical balance — whether on the road or the track.

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive range of crankcase seals, bearings, bolts, and breather components.
  • Precision-machined parts designed for high-load, high-temperature performance.
  • Manufacturer-quality materials and tolerances.
  • Perfect for classic engine restorations and high-performance rebuilds.
  • Improves oil management, structural rigidity, and reliability.
  • Compatible with air-cooled and modern Porsche engine architectures.
