Air induction pipe for air box & Heating Pipe.

Heating Pipe This a replica of the Porsche Germany RS lightweight factory heat duct that was used on all 3.6 litre special RS lightweight rare cars. The Porsche part is ugly roto-formed cheap plastic with parting lines whereas accurate replica is carbon fiber. Saves 8 to 9lbs about 4Kg from the rear of all 964's and 993's. Will not work on C2 Turbos/965 cars. Replaces blower motor assembly and ductwork and still allows plenty of heat just like the factory RS part. Ultra cool clear coated real carbon fiber tube that really cleans up engine bay and makes working on engine easy.

Air induction pipe: This a replica of the Porsche Germany RS lightweight factory air duct that was used on all 3.6 liter special RS lightweight race cars. The air duct is directed up towards the boot lid where air is forces into the air duct and then into the air box. Simple do it yourself installation that gives you the RS style engine look.

Please note: Slight modifications will be required in order to make it fit.

Please Note:

All late model 993's 1996-98 (Varioram engines) require the 964 early type fan air guide shroud (as shown on exploded image)
Can be added below

Due to manufacturing tolerances and the nature of composite materials, minor trimming of excess material may be required during installation to ensure optimal fitment.

Fits:

Porsche 964 C2/C4 1989-1994

Maintain efficient cabin heating and proper airflow within your air-cooled Porsche with this OE Match Engine to Left Hand Heat Exchanger Hose. Measuring 130mm x 60mm, this hose is manufactured to the original factory specification.

Fits:

  • Porsche 911 1975-1977 3.0L Turbo (930)
  • Porsche 911 1978-1989 3.3L Turbo (930)
  • Porsche 964 (911) TURBO 3.3L 1991-93

Diagram ref no. 19

Designed for the Porsche 911 turbo (930) and Porsche 964 turbo, this hose connects the engine cooling fan housing to the left-hand heat exchanger, delivering the airflow required for the vehicle's heating system. Manufactured from durable, heat-resistant materials, it provides the correct fit and flexibility needed to withstand the demanding temperatures of the engine bay.

Whether you're replacing a deteriorated original hose or completing a full engine restoration, this OE Match component restores factory-style performance and appearance.

What Does the Engine to Heat Exchanger Hose Do?

The engine to heat exchanger hose is an essential part of the air-cooled Porsche heating system.

Its primary functions include:

  • Directing cooling fan air from the engine to the left-hand heat exchanger.
  • Providing the airflow required to generate warm air for the cabin heating system.
  • Maintaining efficient airflow through the heat exchanger.
  • Helping ensure effective windscreen demisting and cabin heating.
  • Completing the sealed airflow path between the engine and heating components.

Without an airtight hose, airflow is reduced, resulting in diminished heating performance and reduced system efficiency.

Why Does the Heat Exchanger Hose Fail?

Located in the engine compartment, the hose is constantly exposed to high temperatures, engine vibration and environmental contaminants.

Common causes of deterioration include:

  • Heat-related hardening and cracking.
  • Rubber or reinforced material becoming brittle with age.
  • Splits caused by engine movement and vibration.
  • Damage during engine maintenance.
  • Oil contamination reducing material strength.
  • General wear after years of service.

A damaged hose allows cooling air to escape before reaching the heat exchanger, reducing heating efficiency and affecting overall airflow management.

When Should It Be Replaced?

Replacement is recommended when:

  • The hose is cracked, split or torn.
  • Heating performance has noticeably decreased.
  • Air leaks are present within the heating system.
  • The hose has become brittle or collapsed.
  • Carrying out an engine or heating system restoration.
  • Replacing heat exchangers or other heating system components.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on older vehicles.

Replacing ageing heating hoses helps restore proper airflow, improve cabin heating performance and maintain the efficiency of the air-cooled heating system.

Diagram ref no 5

Whether you're restoring a classic 964, replacing deteriorated heater ducting or refurbishing the complete heating system, this OE Match heater hose provides factory-quality fitment and dependable long-term durability.

What Does the Heater Hose Do?

The heater hose connects the engine's heating ductwork to the heater air flap assembly, allowing heated air generated by the engine cooling fan and heat exchangers to be directed into the cabin when required.

Its primary functions include:

  • Carrying heated air to the heater air flap.
  • Maintaining efficient airflow through the heating system.
  • Supporting rapid cabin heating.
  • Helping deliver effective windscreen demisting and defrosting.
  • Preventing warm air from escaping before reaching the heater controls.
  • Maintaining the correct operation of the Porsche heating and ventilation system.

A correctly sealed heater hose helps maximise heating efficiency and passenger comfort.

Why Do Heater Hoses Fail?

Heater hoses operate in a high-temperature environment and gradually deteriorate through age and continual heat exposure. Common causes of failure include:

  • Heat cycling causing the material to harden.
  • Age-related cracking and splitting.
  • Perishing caused by engine bay temperatures.
  • Oil contamination degrading the hose material.
  • Abrasion against surrounding components.
  • General deterioration after years of service.

As the hose deteriorates it can develop splits, become brittle or collapse, allowing valuable heated air to escape before reaching the cabin.

When Should the Heater Hose Be Replaced?

The heater hose should be inspected whenever the heating system or engine is serviced. Replacement is recommended if you notice:

  • Cracked or brittle hose material.
  • Torn or split ducting.
  • Loose hose connections.
  • Reduced cabin heating performance.
  • Poor windscreen demisting.
  • Visible heat damage or distortion.

Many Porsche specialists recommend replacing ageing heater hoses during engine-out servicing or whenever the heating ductwork is being refurbished.
