GT3 ERX Inner lower control arm (LCA), Rubber Bushing Module.

Fits:
Porsche 996, 997, 991, 992 W/ GT3 Style Control Arms (Front/Rear),
Porsche Boxster, Cayman 1999>> W/ GT3 Style Control Arms (Front Only)

Elephant Racing has developed GT3 type inner lower control arms.
These are readily available and dimensionally identical to the factory parts. They can be mix-matched with the factory type inner/outer lower control arm and shims.
The Elephant Racing inner arm is offered in two flavors, GT3 Street Inner Lower Control Arm and GT3 Cup Inner Lower Control Arm. GT3 street is equipped with a rubber bushed central bushing and the GT3 Cup is equipped with a solid caster adjustable central bushing.
Our GT3 Street Inner Lower Control Arm has sport-hardness rubber bushings to provide upgraded control and driver feedback while still offering good road noise isolation.
Our GT3 Cup Inner Lower Control Arms uses weather sealed spherical bearings. These deliver superior precision, control, and performance. They will transmit a bit more road noise than rubber bushings.

These can be paired with a choice of GT3 outer control lower arms:
– Elephant Racing GT3 Street Outer Lower Control Arms
– Elephant Racing GT3 Cup Outer Lower Control Arms
– Factory GT3 Street Outer Lower Control Arms

Replacement lower control arm bushings to improve the handling characteristics of the Porsche 996 These non-adjustable lower control arm bushings eliminate the unwanted caster changes while the car is under acceleration and braking. The Rohler lower control arm bushings are made from 6061 T6 aluminum to help stiffen the Porsche suspension without adding road harshness to the interior of the car. These bushings are a great improvement for anyone who frequents the track in their 996 cars.

Product Information

This OE Match lower control arm centre solid bush is intended for Porsche 986 Boxster and 996 suspension applications. Supplied individually, it replaces the bush rather than the complete wishbone.

Fits

Porsche 986 Boxster
Porsche 996 1997-05

When using in 997/987 requires spacers/shims

Check fitment for your specific vehicle (model, year, engine) before ordering.

What This Product Does

The centre bush forms part of the lower control arm connection, supporting the arm's location as suspension loads change. It is intended for suspension refurbishment or a revised bush specification on vehicles used on the road and track.

Functions

  • Provides the lower control arm's central bush connection.
  • Supports controlled movement at the associated suspension joint.
  • Replaces a worn or damaged centre bush within a serviceable arm.

Technical Details

  • Component: lower control arm centre solid bush, not a complete arm.
  • Specified material: aluminium, grade 6082-T6.
  • Supplied specification states a 25% durometer increase; the comparison baseline and absolute hardness are not specified.
  • Quantity supplied: one bush.

Symptoms of Fault

Bush wear may be associated with knocking or creaking, indistinct steering, vibration, uneven tyre wear or pulling during braking. These symptoms can also originate from ball joints, track rods, drop links or mounts, so inspect the complete assembly before selecting replacement parts.

Why Replacement Matters

Renewing a worn bush addresses unwanted movement at its connection. Check the arm, ball joint and adjoining hardware at the same time; a new centre bush will not correct wear elsewhere. Choose the bush specification to suit the intended suspension setup rather than assuming identical comfort characteristics to the original component.

FAQs

Is wheel alignment necessary afterwards?
Have suspension geometry checked following the work and adjusted where required.

Should the opposite side be inspected?
Yes. Assess both sides for comparable wear and inspect nearby joints before deciding the extent of the repair.

Does this directly fit a 997 or 987?
The supplied installation note requires spacers/shims for those models. Confirm the specific arm and installation requirements first.

Manufactured from high-strength precision-machined aluminium with a durable steel centre sleeve, the solid bushing is engineered to withstand high cornering loads, braking forces and repeated suspension movement without excessive deflection. The eccentric centre design allows accurate suspension geometry adjustment while maintaining secure location of the lower control arm. Designed for direct OE-style installation, it is ideal for performance upgrades, motorsport applications and suspension rebuilds.

What This Product Does:
  • Secures the lower control arm to the suspension mounting point.
  • Reduces suspension flex under load.
  • Maintains more accurate wheel alignment.
  • Improves steering precision and front-end response.
  • Supports consistent suspension geometry during braking and cornering.
  • Provides an eccentric centre for suspension alignment adjustment.
  • Restores precise suspension operation.
  • Forms an essential part of the front suspension system.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Knocking or clunking noises from the front suspension.
  • Excessive movement of the control arm.
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear.
  • Poor wheel alignment.
  • Vague or inconsistent steering feel.
  • Vehicle wandering under braking or acceleration.
  • Cracked, split or deteriorated original rubber bushes.
  • Excessive suspension deflection.
  • Reduced handling precision.
  • MOT or vehicle inspection failure due to worn suspension bushes.

Why Replacement Matters:
  • The original lower control arm bushes are subjected to constant braking forces, cornering loads, road impacts and engine vibration. Over time, the rubber material can soften, crack or separate from its housing, allowing unwanted movement that affects suspension geometry and steering accuracy.
  • Replacing worn bushes with a solid eccentric centre bushing significantly reduces suspension deflection, allowing the suspension to maintain more consistent alignment under load. This results in sharper steering response, improved braking stability and more predictable handling, particularly on performance-oriented or track-driven vehicles.
  • The OE Match Lower Control Arm Eccentric Centre Solid Bushing is manufactured from premium-quality materials to provide factory-style fitment, exceptional strength and long-lasting durability. It is the ideal solution for Porsche suspension upgrades, performance driving, motorsport preparation and professional suspension rebuilds.

Our Eccentric Control Arm Monoball Cartridges replace inner rubber bushings with spherical bearings, providing low friction and precisely holding camber settings.
The eccentric design allows increasing or decreasing camber, as needed.

Increasing Camber

Position the eccentric to maximize Lower Wishbone length, adding about .86 degree of negative camber on the 996/997 rear suspension, about .36 degree of negative camber on the Boxster rear suspension, and .39 degrees on the 996/997/Boxster front suspension.
Cost effective for cars that just want extra camber. For even more camber and ease of adjustment, see our GT3 type fully adjustable control arms.

Decreasing Camber

Position the eccentric to minimize Lower Wishbone length. Perfect for lowered cars that have too much negative camber and want to get back to factory camber settings to minimize tire wear on the street. Makes rear camber about .86 degrees more positive & front camber about .39 degrees positive for 996/997 while Boxsters will get about .39 degrees positive front and .36 degrees positive rear.

Made from hardened steel, plated and weather-sealed, these bearings are made to last. Fits the front or rear stock and GT3 type control arms.

Sized to fit factory original control arms. Not compatible with some aftermarket replacement control arms that use a larger non-stock size bushing.

OE Match rear solid bush for the lower control arm on Porsche 986 Boxster and 996 models. Supplied as one individual arm bush, rather than a complete control arm.

Fits

Porsche 986 Boxster
Porsche 996 1997 - 2005

When using in 997/987 requires spacers/shims

Check fitment for your specific vehicle (model, year, engine) before ordering.

What This Product Does

This bush forms part of the lower control arm mounting arrangement, which locates the suspension arm while accommodating suspension movement. It is intended for renewal of the bush itself, so the condition of the surrounding arm and its joints should also be assessed.

Functions

  • Provides the bush connection within the control arm assembly.
  • Supports controlled movement at the mounting point.
  • Forms part of the suspension geometry locating arrangement.

Technical Details

  • Construction specified as a high-density solid bush.
  • Specified material: aluminium alloy 6082-T6.
  • Stated durometer increase: 25%; the comparison baseline is not specified.
  • Supply quantity: one arm bush.

Symptoms of Fault

  • Knocks or creaks when crossing uneven surfaces.
  • Noticeable play at a suspension mounting point.
  • Wandering, vibration or an unsettled steering feel.
  • Uneven tyre wear or difficulty maintaining alignment.

These signs can also arise from ball joints, dampers, drop links or other mountings. Confirm the source through inspection before replacing a bush.

Why Replacement Matters

Renewing a worn mounting bush addresses excess movement at that connection. Check neighbouring bushes, joints and fixings during the repair, as replacing one component will not correct wear elsewhere. Arrange a geometry check after work affecting suspension alignment.

FAQs

  • Is a complete control arm included?
No. The supplied quantity is one individual bush.
  • Can it be used on 997 or 987 models?
The installation note requires spacers/shims for these applications. Confirm the particular arm and vehicle specification before fitting.
  • Should the opposite side be inspected?
Yes. Compare both sides and assess the remaining suspension joints for related wear.

About Control Arms Rear

Rear Control Arms (Coffin Arms) – Stability, Alignment and Rear-End Control

Rear control arms, commonly referred to as coffin arms, are critical suspension components responsible for controlling rear wheel alignment, stability and handling balance. Mounted between the rear hub and chassis, these arms manage camber and toe movement as the suspension compresses and extends, directly affecting traction, tyre wear and overall vehicle confidence.

At Design911, we supply OE replacement and performance rear coffin arms from trusted suspension manufacturers. Whether you are addressing worn factory components or upgrading for fast-road and track use, rear control arms play a vital role in maintaining predictable handling and restoring proper suspension geometry.

What Do Rear Control Arms (Coffin Arms) Do?

Rear control arms locate the rear wheels and guide their movement through suspension travel. Their primary functions include:

  • Maintaining correct rear wheel camber and toe
  • Providing rear-end stability under acceleration and cornering
  • Supporting predictable handling balance
  • Reducing unwanted suspension flex

Because the rear suspension governs traction and stability, worn or flexing coffin arms can significantly affect handling feel and tyre life.

Why Upgrade or Replace Rear Coffin Arms?

Upgrading or replacing rear control arms offers:

  • Restored rear suspension geometry and alignment accuracy
  • Improved traction and stability during cornering
  • Reduced uneven tyre wear
  • Better feedback and control during spirited driving

Performance rear control arms may feature stronger materials, uprated bushes or adjustable geometry, allowing fine-tuning of rear suspension setup for performance driving or track use.

When Should You Replace Rear Control Arms?

Rear coffin arms should be replaced or upgraded when:

  • Suspension bushes are cracked, worn or noisy
  • Rear alignment cannot be set correctly
  • Handling feels unstable or unpredictable
  • Uneven rear tyre wear is present
  • Performing a suspension refresh or performance upgrade

Replacing worn rear control arms helps restore factory handling characteristics and improves overall driving confidence.

At Design911, our rear control arms meet OE or performance standards, supporting both professional servicing and enthusiast upgrades.
