Fabspeed Race Headers.
The Fabspeed Porsche 986 Boxster Race Headers are a competition-focused exhaust upgrade designed for maximum exhaust flow, improved scavenging, reduced restriction and sharper engine response on 2000–2004 Porsche 986.2 Boxster and Boxster S models.

Unlike Fabspeed's Sport Headers, these Race Headers do not contain catalytic converters. They replace the factory Porsche headers and their integrated primary catalysts with free-flowing equal-length headers, making them intended specifically for closed-course competition, race and off-road applications.

Constructed from equal-length T304 stainless-steel CNC mandrel-bent tubing, the headers use F1-style merge collectors to improve exhaust-gas velocity and scavenging. They can be used with the factory rear muffler or compatible aftermarket cat-back exhaust systems designed around the OEM mounting arrangement.

What This Product Does:
Headers collect exhaust gases as they leave the engine's cylinder heads and direct them into the remainder of the exhaust system.

The design, length and geometry of the individual primary tubes influence how efficiently these gases leave each cylinder.

The Fabspeed Race Headers replace the original catalyst-equipped manifolds with a freer-flowing, equal-length arrangement.

They are designed to provide:

Removes The Factory Catalytic Converters:

• On 2000–2004 Porsche 986 Boxster models, the factory headers incorporate primary catalytic converters.
• The Fabspeed Race Headers remove these catalysts entirely.
• This creates a substantially less restrictive exhaust path but also means the product is fundamentally different from a street-oriented catalyst-equipped replacement header.
• The Race Headers are intended for vehicles where maximum exhaust flow is prioritised over emissions-system compatibility.

Fabspeed Sport Headers.
The Fabspeed Porsche 986 Boxster Sport Headers are a performance exhaust upgrade designed to improve exhaust flow, scavenging, throttle response and flat-six sound on Porsche 986 Boxster.

Fits:

The headers use equal-length CNC mandrel-bent primary tubes combined with F1-style high-velocity merge collectors. This configuration is designed to improve the way exhaust gases leave each cylinder and merge into the exhaust system, reducing unnecessary restriction and supporting more efficient engine breathing.

1997–1999 Porsche 986 Boxster / Boxster S: The factory headers do not incorporate primary catalytic converters, so the Fabspeed headers for these vehicles are supplied without sport catalysts.

Fabspeed reports +8 wheel horsepower and +4 lb-ft of torque when the Sport Headers are installed with the Fabspeed Maxflo Performance Exhaust System. These are manufacturer-reported figures from a specific vehicle and are not guaranteed results for every application.

2000-2004 Header With HJS Sport Catalysts:

DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING:
By creating a unique application for the 981 platform, we’ve focused on sizing the runners (2”) and collectors correctly to extract maximum power from the 3.4L engine while producing great gains from the 2.7L as well.

DYNO RESULTS:
A 981 Cayman S with SOUL Valved Exhaust, intake, and ECU tune added Competition Headers and IPD plenum and GT3 throttle body for comparison. Comparing the average performing run of both sessions shows gains of 26 whp (303->329) and 24 ft-lbs of torque (276->300).
