About Performance Friction Brakes

PFC for Porsche

When it boils down to it, the products we use are a reflection of who we are. You can tell a lot about a person from the products they use, their character, their values and their objectives. At PFC Brakes we have used our mission to build a culture. We have built our company based on a defiant philosophy: NO COMPROMISES™ It’s a mindset, an attitude, a commitment.Set Standards. Outperform. Outlast. Surpass. Pursue Challenges. Exceed Expectations. Break Records. PFC Porsche Brakes isn’t just a product, it’s a mentality

A Quick Look at PFC

PFC Porsche Brakes isn’t just a product, it’s a mentality.

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche

Where PFC is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side/position, and connector type where relevant.

  • Typical reasons to choose these parts include improving fade resistance, pedal feel and consistency for fast-road and track use.
  • Common issues that prompt investigation include squeal, dust, judder from pad deposits, uneven wear, long pedal from fluid issues, and vibration from disc thickness variation or sticky calipers.
  • Match compound to intended temperature range and follow the bedding-in procedure carefully to avoid deposits and judder.
  • Ensure brake fluid, discs and calipers are in good condition so the pad can perform as designed.

Browse by Category

If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.

Brakes — Brake components are renewed to restore stopping performance, address wear or upgrade a Porsche for fast road or track use. Common symptoms include vibration under braking, increased stopping distances, squealing, pulling to one side, warning lights and visible wear to discs and pads.

  • Check which Porsche models and brake options a given kit or component suits, and whether new hardware and sensors are included.
  • Follow the recommended bedding-in procedure to stabilise friction and reduce the risk of judder.

Performance Friction Brakes — Performance Friction brakes are selected for serious track and racing applications where consistent friction and low taper wear are required.

  • Confirm which Porsche applications are covered and whether pads and discs are supplied separately or as matched systems.
  • Verify road legality and choose pad compounds based on your driving style and temperature range.

Performance Friction Discs — Performance Friction discs are used with matching pads to handle extreme track temperatures with minimal distortion. Standard discs may cone, crack or wear rapidly under racing conditions, leading many owners to upgrade where listed.

  • Check whether discs are plain or slotted, if bells are included, and whether friction rings can be replaced separately.
  • Confirm if a given disc is recommended for road, track-only, or mixed use on your Porsche.

Replacement for Ceramic Disc — These discs replace expensive OEM ceramic rotors with alternative solutions when originals are worn or damaged. Ceramic discs can chip, crack or reach their minimum thickness after hard use, making replacement essential.

  • Verify whether the replacement is iron, ceramic or a hybrid design and that it is compatible with original Porsche calipers and pads.
  • Check road legality and follow the recommended running-in procedure to stabilise performance.

Brake Fluid — Brake fluid is changed regularly to maintain boiling point and corrosion protection within the braking system. Old fluid absorbs moisture, reducing boiling point, which can lead to pedal fade, internal corrosion and sticky components.

  • Use the DOT rating and specification recommended for your Porsche model and intended use (road, track or both).
  • Observe service intervals and avoid mixing incompatible fluid types when bleeding or topping up.

Ever since the disc brake was invented vibration and pulsation caused by thermal expansion has been a major issue giving rise to warped discs - until now?

PFC has released new V3 disc and hat technology. The advanced design features a patented attachment design that uses a retention ring that holds the hat and disc together.

The ring means no need for torque wrenches, and no hassle. The ability to change a disc quickly and efficiently saves time and effort. As well as being convenient, the new V3 technology is much lighter than previous designs, making it easier to put on and pull off, and making the vehicle lighter.

This V3 disc retention method is based on the use of a two-turn retaining ring, which is held in a groove in the hat that overlaps the disc flanges – effectively locking the disc to the hat.

● Exceptional manufacturing standards - Run out less than 0.0254mm, Thickness variation less than 0.00762mm. Surface finishes less than .7 microns. When used in conjunction with Z rated fast road/track day pads, component life and on track performance markedly improved over competitors pads.

The absolute best brakes on the market Performance Friction brakes are the standard of excellence in high-performance vehicles, and street vehicles.

PFC brake pad compounds:

08 compound
endurance compound for high temperatures. Slight friction rise with temperature. Low disc wear

08 compound has gained immediate favour in endurance sportscar and GT racing and also in endurance production car racing due to its performance in applications where smooth initial bite is a must. 08 has a slight friction rise with temperature with excellent release and modulation characteristics. Very low abraded disc wear with a fine grey slate like disc finish, similar to 01. Despite its considerable performance, 08 wears the longest of all PFC pads and easily matches wear of the other competitors with much higher bite.
Applications: Endurance pad for high temperature applications, GT, Touring car, Driving school, Trackday, Rally Raid.

13 compound
high bite, high friction for sprint & rally applications.

13 compound is a new generation of ultimate high bite-high friction. 13 compound has been developed with increased bite, modulation, with superior disc conditioning and release characteristics for exceptional control. Ultra-smooth and great for tracks with high grip or high downforce cars. It is the ultimate combination of high bite and infinite control. Ideal use where high bite in the first third of the stop is desired. 13’s wear is on a par with PFC's legendary 01 compound and will operate at higher temperatures if called to. 13 has a very high threshold for fade resistance. Out of all the high bite, high torque pads on the market 13 has shown to have one of the lowest taper wear in a properly designed race caliper.
Applications: GT3, GT4 front, LMP3, Rally, Formula 3, F3R, Indy series, Touring car, one make series

68 compound
for street & track day use, with incredible cold bite plus high temperature tolerance.

The 68 compound is the most popular street/track day offering in the PFC lineup. This compound has incredible cold bite and even better mu with extreme temperatures. Offering a smooth release and responsive pedal for pushing the limit. 68 is quiet on brake application with very low, non-corrosive dust characteristics.
Whether it’s crossing out items from your grocery list or writing in a new personal best lap time, this pad is the ultimate option for street driving and high-performance track days.

331 compound
degressive pad for front applications, with good initial bite & low wear. ABS-friendly.

331 is the next generation of PFC endurance material. Improved control with ABS, and gentle on discs. The 331 Carbon Metallic ® compound has been developed with higher initial bite than PFC’s renowned 08 endurance compound. The 331 has improved release, and continues to offer exceptional control and feel. It boasts low wear rate and exceptional disc conditioning.
Applications: Endurance pad for front axle with ABS, GT3, GT4, Touring car and Trackday

11 compound
for sprint / medium distance with smooth bite & rising friction over temperature.

11 compound is a new generation sprint and medium distance friction providing the ultimate in control, with superior disc conditioning. 11 compound was developed from the 01 compound with improved bite, modulation, and release characteristics. Good fade resistance & easy control. It is ultra-smooth and developed to reduce wheel locking at the end of a stop. For many applications, 11 will replace the venerable 01 compound.
Applications: GT, All Formula, Rally and Rally Raid, Historic Racing, Trackday, when pedal feel is needed. Preferred compound choice for one make series.

68 compound
for street & track day use, with incredible cold bite plus high temperature tolerance.

Please note: These pads have the clip cut out for the brake sensor but there is no hole drilled in the pad to accept the wire. As this is track and racing pad it is not common practice to fit the sensors. If you insist on fitting the sensors, you will have to drill a hole for the wire to slot in.
