Silverlake Projects' complete Drive-by-Wire (DBW) intake system, designed specifically for 964 and 993 engines to be converted to DBW (drive by wire) throttle body.
Our system includes:
- 6 precision-engineered runners crafted from anodized structural aluminum
- 2 anodized fuel rails, also made from structural aluminum for durability and performance
- Dual GT3-style intake manifolds in carbon fiber for weight reduction and strength
- Intake T-tube in glass-reinforced thermoplastic, compatible with a 82mm DBW throttle body
- Resonance flap or resonance flap delete tube in glass-reinforced thermoplastic, complete with a vacuum actuator
- 6 high-temperature silicone couplers for the manifold-to-runner connections
- 4 high-temperature silicone couplers for the manifold-to-T-tube/resonance flap connections
- TMAP sensor for accurate air intake measurements
- Vacuum reservoir for optimized engine performance
- All mounting hardware made from lightweight titanium alloy
Inlet port sizes: 42mm
Weighing just 5.5 kg (12 lbs), our intake system is nearly half the weight of the stock 964 intake, which weighs 11.5 kg (25.3 lbs), offering a substantial weight savings for enhanced performance
Why our system?
- 50% lighter than stock. Lighter than most systems given use of carbon fiber, thermoplastics, and titanium.
- Direct mount of fuel rail to the runner for perfect injector press fit.
- CNC machined PTFE inserts in between the cylinder head and the runner for a superior insulation from the heat from the cylinder heads, especially when in idle and street applications.
- Custom nitrile O-rings in between the runner and the cylinder head, and the intake T and throttle body for a perfect seal
- Silverlake’s precision-molded OEM+ silicone sleeves with a much higher temperature resistance than rubber, offering a perfect fit with the opposing components for better airflow, and an unmatched appearance.
- All mounting fasteners in Tin coated titanium alloy, for reduced weight and un unbeatable appearance
- Your choice between 82mm or 92mm drive by wire throttle bodies, the latter offering 25% more surface for high displacement high performance applications

Throttle Bodies & Plenum Chambers – Engine Breathing Precision for Porsche Performance
Throttle bodies and plenum chambers are critical components of your Porsche’s air intake system. Together, they regulate and distribute airflow entering the engine, directly influencing throttle response, torque, and overall driving performance. The throttle body controls how much air enters the intake manifold, while the plenum chamber ensures balanced air delivery to all cylinders — maintaining consistent power and efficiency across the rev range.
At Design911, we supply a complete range of genuine and high-quality throttle bodies and plenum chambers for Porsche models like 911, Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, Macan, and Panamera models. Each unit is precision-engineered for smooth airflow, accurate response, and long-term reliability, keeping your Porsche performing at its best.
What Do Throttle Bodies & Plenum Chambers Do?
These components are essential for efficient engine
breathing and performance tuning. Their key functions include:
- Controlling
airflow entering the engine for precise throttle response.
- Optimising
air distribution to each cylinder for smooth, balanced power.
- Improving
combustion efficiency and engine performance.
- Supporting enhanced torque and acceleration in naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines.
In performance models, upgraded throttle bodies and plenum chambers can increase air volume and flow efficiency — unlocking additional horsepower and sharper throttle control.
Why Do Throttle Bodies & Plenum Chambers Fail?
Over time, these components can experience wear,
contamination, or mechanical issues due to harsh operating conditions. Common
causes of failure include:
- Carbon
buildup or dirt affecting airflow and throttle operation.
- Electronic
faults in the throttle actuator or position sensor.
- Air
leaks from worn seals or cracked housings.
- Heat
damage or corrosion in the plenum chamber.
- Mechanical sticking of the throttle plate or linkage.
Symptoms of failure include rough idle, reduced acceleration, check engine light warnings, poor throttle response, or inconsistent idle speed.
Why Replace Faulty Throttle Bodies or Plenum Chambers?
A damaged or restricted throttle body or plenum chamber can significantly reduce engine performance and responsiveness. Replacing these components restores precise airflow control, smooth throttle transitions, and optimal fuel efficiency.
Benefits of replacement include:
- Restored engine power and responsiveness.
- Improved air distribution and combustion efficiency.
- Smoother idling and better fuel economy.
- Long-term reliability with manufacturer-quality precision.
All throttle bodies and plenum chambers available from Design911 are built using advanced materials, high-precision machining, and corrosion-resistant finishes — ensuring dependable performance and durability in every Porsche application.
