About Rohler

ROHLER for Porsche

ROHLER creates premium replacement and performance components for Porsche vehicles, developed for owners, restorers and specialist workshops that believe the smallest details matter. Design911 offers ROHLER products alongside genuine, OE Match and quality aftermarket options, supported by specialists who understand these cars.

The ROHLER story

ROHLER is defined by a straightforward philosophy: “Don't simply replace it. Improve it.” Its range extends from precision-machined titanium fasteners and engine hardware to carefully engineered replacement components, with an emphasis on superior materials, precise fitment and long-term durability. The understated design approach allows attention to detail to continue beyond visible parts to the hardware and engineering underneath. Premium materials. Precision engineering. Lasting solutions. ROHLER — Engineered to Belong.

Why choose ROHLER for your Porsche

Many Porsche components and fixings work in demanding conditions involving heat, moisture, road salt and repeated servicing, where conventional parts can eventually corrode, seize, deteriorate or become difficult to service. ROHLER develops more considered long-term solutions and, where the application demands it, uses materials such as Grade 5 titanium for their combination of high strength, low weight and exceptional corrosion resistance. Positioned above conventional aftermarket components, the brand combines modern engineering, carefully selected materials and precise fitment for restoration, maintenance and performance-focused work. Design911 hand-picks brands for their quality and suitability, helping customers select components for routine repairs, detailed restorations or carefully planned upgrades.

  • Premium replacement and performance components developed for Porsche vehicles
  • Precision-machined titanium fasteners and carefully engineered engine hardware
  • Grade 5 titanium used where applications require strength, low weight and corrosion resistance
  • Suitable for air-cooled builds, engine and transmission rebuilds and high-value restorations
  • Components intended to improve known weak points and withstand demanding environments
  • Fitment supported by supplied model coverage and relevant OE references

Categories we stock from this brand

Design911 stocks ROHLER across the following categories for Porsche models. Check the supplied model coverage, model year, side or position, connector type and OE references where relevant to confirm the correct application.

Engine Rebuild Parts ROHLER engine hardware and replacement components are suited to planned Porsche engine overhauls, specialist workshop builds and projects where premium materials and attention to detail are priorities.

  • Internal wear can present as low or uneven compression, excessive oil consumption, persistent leaks, abnormal noises, low hot-idle oil pressure or metallic debris in the oil and filter.
  • Before committing to a rebuild, carry out compression and leak-down tests, inspect the bores with a scope and check the oil and filter for contamination or debris.
  • While the engine is apart, assess chains, guides, seals, bearings, gaskets and critical hardware to reduce the chance of a repeat strip-down.
  • Confirm the underlying cause, including overheating, oiling problems or coolant and oil cross-contamination, before installing replacement components.

Camshaft covers / Gaskets Camshaft covers and gaskets are renewed to restore reliable sealing, control oil leaks and protect the upper areas of a Porsche engine from contamination.

  • Heat cycling can harden or shrink gaskets, while covers may crack, corrode, distort or develop damaged sealing surfaces.
  • Typical symptoms include oil seepage, wetness around fasteners, burning-oil smells, smoke from oil reaching hot components and residue around the camshaft-cover area.
  • Do not rely on overtightening bolts; check cover flatness and sealing surfaces, use the correct torque sequence and renew brittle seals.
  • Inspect the breather or PCV system and crankcase ventilation because excess pressure can contribute to recurring leaks.

Engine Tuning ROHLER performance components support Porsche projects intended to improve known weak points, refine durability or complement carefully planned engine modifications.

  • Before tuning, confirm good mechanical health through compression, fuelling, sensor, cooling and oil-temperature checks.
  • Investigate hesitation, flat spots, poor idle, surging, inconsistent boost, misfires and abnormal fuel mixture readings before selecting components or calibration changes.
  • Check for boost and vacuum leaks and resolve mechanical faults rather than attempting to mask them through tuning.
  • Any modification should be considered as a complete system, with suitable supporting components and a calibration appropriate to the application.

Camshaft Covers Replacement camshaft covers are used where original covers have cracked, warped or can no longer provide a dependable sealing surface, often as part of Porsche top-end work.

  • Camshaft covers retain engine oil and protect camshafts and valvetrain components from dirt and debris.
  • Inspect for distortion, cracks, damaged bolt holes, brittle seals and persistent leaks that remain after gasket replacement.
  • Follow the specified tightening pattern and torque because overtightening can distort a cover or damage threads.
  • Check crankcase breathing at the same time, as restricted ventilation can worsen top-end oil leaks.

Interior & Accessories Interior components and accessories can refresh worn touch points, replace damaged trim or add practical storage and comfort features without changing the core character of a Porsche.

  • Common concerns include sticky switches, broken clips, rattles, sagging trim, worn surfaces, faded plastics and damaged hinges or handles.
  • Brittle plastics, ageing foam adhesives and water ingress can contribute to damp smells, mould or warped panels.
  • Many parts vary by Porsche model and year, so check compatibility details and part references carefully.
  • Use suitable trim tools and renew missing or damaged clips and fasteners to minimise loose panels and new rattles.

Explore the range

Explore ROHLER components for high-value Porsche restorations, air-cooled builds, engine and transmission rebuilds, motorsport-inspired projects and specialist workshop work at Design911. Match the Porsche model and year and, where possible, cross-check OE part numbers before fitting; renew critical consumables such as seals, clips and bolts and address worn mounts, misalignment or contamination so the underlying cause is resolved.

Alternator fan / impeller housing strap, in TITANIUM.
The alternator fan / impeller housing strap secures the cooling fan assembly to the engine structure, keeping it correctly positioned and stable during engine run-up, vibration, and thermal cycling.

Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989
Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 1975 - 1989
Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3L / Turbo 3.6L 1991 - 1994
Porsche 914-6 1970 - 1976

Diagram ref no 2

The fan/impeller housing is a critical component of the air-cooled Porsche engine’s cooling system - ensuring airflow over the heads and cylinders - so a secure mounting strap helps maintain proper belt tension, consistent fan alignment, and dependable cooling performance.

Installed between the fan housing and its anchor point on the engine case or accessories bracket, this strap absorbs and distributes load from the fan’s rotational forces, engine vibration, and belt tension. The use of titanium dramatically improves resistance to fatigue and stress versus stock steel, helping reduce the chance of strap deformation or failure over time while contributing to overall engine compartment weight reduction.

The strap’s titanium alloy also provides higher corrosion resistance - especially beneficial for cars operated in damp or coastal environments where galvanic corrosion can affect standard hardware.

The stock steel fan strap experiences continuous load from belt tension, fan rotation, and thermal expansion. Over time, steel straps can stretch, fatigue, or crack, affecting fan alignment and potentially leading to belt slippage, reduced cooling airflow, or accelerated wear on pulleys. Upgrading to a titanium strap improves structural integrity, reduces recurring maintenance, and enhances the overall robustness of the cooling system - particularly in performance or high-stress driving environments.

When to replace:
• Original strap shows corrosion, cracks, or deformation
•  During fan or alternator service
•  As part of engine rebuild or restoration project
•  Upgrading to performance materials for enhanced durability
•  When reducing rotating mass and engine compartment weight

  • Porsche 996 C4 3.6L 09/01-2005
  • Porsche 996 C4S 3.6L 09/01-2005
  • Porsche 996 TURBO 2000-05

Diagram Ref No 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

What This Product Does:
  • The top mount (strut mount) sits between the top of the shock absorber/strut and the vehicle’s body/strut tower. It supports the loads from springs, damper, steering (via bearing), and absorbs vibration/road noise.
  • A monoball mount version replaces the standard rubber mount with a spherical bearing (monoball) or very stiff mounting that provides more direct steering/suspension feedback, reduces deflection under load, and keeps suspension geometry (camber, caster) more consistent during hard cornering.

Symptoms & Signs You Need Replacement:
  • Clunking or knocking noise from the top of the front strut tower when going over bumps or during steering inputs — a worn mount or bearing often causes this.
  • Squeaking or creaking noise when steering the wheel, especially at low speeds — the strut mount bearing may be worn.
  • Poor steering feedback or vague handling, especially when cornering hard — a worn mount can cause deflection and loss of camber control.
  • Excessive vibration or noise through the body from the front suspension; worn mount rubber or bearing can transmit more noise.
  • During a shock/strut replacement or front suspension overhaul — since the top mount assembly must be removed anyway, replacing the modern monoball upgrade kit is logical to restore or upgrade suspension quality.
  • Steering geometry issues — if you’ve had camber/caster issues, or your tyres are wearing unevenly at the front, a poor top mount may contribute.
Why Replacement Matters:
  • Suspension performance & tyre contact: On high-performance cars like a Porsche 911 C4/Turbo, the front suspension’s geometry and mounting rigidity matter a lot. If the top mount is deflecting, you lose optimal tyre contact patch under load, which reduces grip, increases tyre wear, and impairs handling.
  • Durability & noise/vibration: Rubber top mounts tend to degrade over time (cracking, flattening, absorbing road noise). A good mount + bearing kit eliminates unwanted compliance and noise, and lengthens life of the strut/damper assembly.
  • Precise handling and steering feel: The top mount bearing allows the strut to turn with steering; if worn, you get sloppy steering feel and delayed response. Upgrading to a monoball mount helps sharpen the steering and gives more direct feedback.
  • Prevents repeat labour: Since access to the strut top requires removing mount or taking down the strut, doing a mount/bearing replacement while everything is open is cost-effective. It avoids having to redo labour later when noise or wear returns.
