A Quick Look at Fabspeed

Fabspeed information on this page is based on details supplied by the manufacturer or distributor, plus any OE references provided with the parts.

Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche

Where Fabspeed is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side/position, and connector type where relevant.

  • Typical reasons people replace these parts include upgrading tired or corroded factory exhaust components, tailoring sound and response for fast-road or track use, and supporting wider tuning packages.
  • Common symptoms that lead owners to inspect or change related parts include exhaust leaks, rattles, drone, heat-related fatigue, and loss of performance that may also be linked to boost or vacuum issues.
  • After installation, it is sensible to refresh mounts and hardware where worn, and to carry out a careful check for leaks once everything has heat-cycled.
  • Consider whether supporting ECU mapping or health checks are appropriate for your Porsche, depending on how extensive your hardware changes are.

Browse by Category

If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.

Engine Tuning — Engine tuning parts and upgrades for Porsche are used to improve drivability, throttle response and power, or to support changes such as intake, exhaust, or forced induction. They are typically chosen once the engine is in good health, as tuning cannot compensate for underlying mechanical faults.

  • Before any significant tuning work, check overall engine condition, including compression or leak-down where appropriate, fuel system health, sensor data, and that there are no boost or vacuum leaks.
  • Avoid using calibration changes to hide rough running or misfires, as the mechanical root cause still needs to be addressed.

Air Filters — Air filters for Porsche protect the engine from dirt while maintaining the airflow that correct fuelling and performance depend on. Owners often replace or upgrade filters to restore airflow, support tuning work, or improve serviceability while keeping good filtration.

  • Service intervals depend on use: dusty environments or frequent track days may justify more frequent inspection and cleaning or replacement.
  • If using oiled performance filters, follow the manufacturer’s oiling instructions carefully to avoid contaminating sensitive airflow sensors.

Air Induction Kits — Induction kits for Porsche replace or re-route parts of the intake system to change airflow, response and sound. They are usually part of a wider tuning package and are selected to balance intake temperatures, flow and sensor stability.

  • When fitting an induction kit, ensure joints and connections are well sealed to prevent unmetered air entering the engine or causing drivability issues.
  • Positioning and heat management are important: shielding from hot engine-bay air helps keep intake temperatures, and therefore performance, more consistent.

Exhausts — Exhaust upgrades for Porsche are commonly chosen to replace corroded or leaking factory systems, refine the car’s sound, reduce weight or improve gas flow as part of a tuning package. The right choice depends on how the car is used and the balance you want between sound, comfort and responsiveness.

  • When planning an exhaust change, consider the complete system, including catalytic converters, to keep within your local emissions and noise requirements.
  • Replacing aged gaskets, clamps, mounts and rusted fixings at the same time as the exhaust usually improves fitment and reduces the chance of future leaks or rattles.

All Silencers / Mufflers — This category covers a range of Porsche silencer and muffler layouts, from standard-style replacements to sport and valved options. Selection is usually guided by corrosion or damage to existing parts, unwanted noise or drone, or a desire to change the exhaust character while staying within comfort and usage needs.

  • To narrow down the correct layout, compare inlet and outlet positions, hanger locations and pipe diameters on your current system against the product details.
  • When choosing between standard, sport or switchable systems, think about typical journeys and cabin noise tolerance so you end up with a sound level that suits day-to-day use.

Fabspeed Race Headers.
The Fabspeed Porsche 986 Boxster Race Headers are a competition-focused exhaust upgrade designed for maximum exhaust flow, improved scavenging, reduced restriction and sharper engine response on 2000–2004 Porsche 986.2 Boxster and Boxster S models.

Fits:
  • Porsche Boxster 986 2.7L 2000-02
  • Porsche Boxster S 986 3.2L 2000-02
  • Porsche Boxster 986 2.7L 2003-04
  • Porsche Boxster S 986 3.2L 2003-04

Unlike Fabspeed's Sport Headers, these Race Headers do not contain catalytic converters. They replace the factory Porsche headers and their integrated primary catalysts with free-flowing equal-length headers, making them intended specifically for closed-course competition, race and off-road applications.

Constructed from equal-length T304 stainless-steel CNC mandrel-bent tubing, the headers use F1-style merge collectors to improve exhaust-gas velocity and scavenging. They can be used with the factory rear muffler or compatible aftermarket cat-back exhaust systems designed around the OEM mounting arrangement.

What This Product Does:
Headers collect exhaust gases as they leave the engine's cylinder heads and direct them into the remainder of the exhaust system.

The design, length and geometry of the individual primary tubes influence how efficiently these gases leave each cylinder.

The Fabspeed Race Headers replace the original catalyst-equipped manifolds with a freer-flowing, equal-length arrangement.

They are designed to provide:

  • Maximum exhaust-gas flow
  • Reduced exhaust restriction
  • Reduced backpressure
  • Improved exhaust scavenging
  • Improved cylinder evacuation
  • Increased performance potential
  • Sharper throttle response
  • Improved high-RPM breathing
  • Reduced exhaust-system weight
  • More aggressive flat-six exhaust sound

Removes The Factory Catalytic Converters:
  • On 2000–2004 Porsche 986 Boxster models, the factory headers incorporate primary catalytic converters.
  • The Fabspeed Race Headers remove these catalysts entirely.
  • This creates a substantially less restrictive exhaust path but also means the product is fundamentally different from a street-oriented catalyst-equipped replacement header.
  • The Race Headers are intended for vehicles where maximum exhaust flow is prioritised over emissions-system compatibility.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The factory headers do not need to have failed before installing this product.

These Race Headers are primarily a competition performance upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • Removes restrictive OEM catalytic converters
  • Maximum exhaust-flow design

Fabspeed Maxflo True X-Pipe With Dual Tips, Titanium.
The Fabspeed Porsche 987 Boxster / Cayman Maxflo True X-Pipe with Dual Tips is a direct bolt-on exhaust outlet upgrade designed to improve exhaust flow, sound and rear-end appearance.

Fits:
  • Porsche Boxster 987 2.7L 2005-08/08
  • Porsche Cayman 2.7L 987C 2006-08

Unlike a complete rear muffler system, this component replaces the factory Porsche T-style exhaust outlet and tips while retaining the existing mufflers. Fabspeed's True X-Pipe design allows exhaust gases from both sides of the system to merge and transition more smoothly before exiting through the dual 4-inch / 102 mm tips.

The result is a freer-flowing exhaust outlet with a sportier flat-six sound and a more purposeful rear appearance.

Fabspeed lists manufacturer-reported gains of +8 HP and +5 lb-ft, together with approximately 3 lb of weight reduction. Actual results will vary according to vehicle specification, condition and testing environment.

What This Product Does:
The standard Porsche exhaust outlet directs gases from the two rear mufflers into a common centre outlet.

Fabspeed's Maxflo system replaces this arrangement with a true X-pipe design.

The crossover is designed to provide a smoother transition as exhaust gases from both sides meet and leave the rear mufflers.

The upgrade is designed to provide:

  • Improved exhaust-gas flow
  • Increased exhaust velocity
  • Reduced turbulence at the exhaust outlet
  • Improved performance potential
  • Increased exhaust volume
  • Smoother flat-six exhaust tone
  • Sportier rear appearance
  • Larger 4-inch / 102 mm dual exhaust tips

True X-Pipe Design:
The key feature of this product is the True X-Pipe crossover.

An X-pipe allows the exhaust streams from both sides of the engine to merge progressively rather than meeting through a restrictive T-style junction.

A smoother crossover can help:

  • Reduce exhaust turbulence
  • Improve gas velocity
  • Improve exhaust pulse interaction
  • Reduce unnecessary flow restriction
  • Produce a smoother exhaust note

Fabspeed states that its X-pipe provides improved flow compared with the factory Porsche outlet design.

Direct Replacement For The Factory Outlet:

  • The Fabspeed Maxflo X-Pipe is designed as a direct replacement for the original Porsche T-outlet style tip assembly.
  • This means the factory mufflers remain in position.
  • The product is therefore an attractive option for owners who want improved flow, appearance and sound without replacing the complete rear exhaust system.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The factory exhaust outlet does not need to have failed before fitting this product.

The Fabspeed Maxflo True X-Pipe is primarily a performance, sound and styling upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • True X-pipe crossover design
  • Improved exhaust flow
  • Increased exhaust velocity
  • Reduced outlet turbulence
  • Manufacturer-reported +8 HP
  • Manufacturer-reported +5 lb-ft
  • Approx. 3 lb weight reduction
  • Sportier flat-six exhaust sound

Fabspeed's Maxflo system replaces this arrangement with a true X-pipe design.

The crossover is designed to provide a smoother transition as exhaust gases from both sides meet and leave the rear mufflers.

The upgrade is designed to provide:

  • Improved exhaust-gas flow
  • Increased exhaust velocity
  • Reduced turbulence at the exhaust outlet
  • Improved performance potential
  • Increased exhaust volume
  • Smoother flat-six exhaust tone
  • Sportier rear appearance
  • Larger 4-inch / 102 mm dual exhaust tips

True X-Pipe Design:
The key feature of this product is the True X-Pipe crossover.

An X-pipe allows the exhaust streams from both sides of the engine to merge progressively rather than meeting through a restrictive T-style junction.

A smoother crossover can help:

  • Reduce exhaust turbulence
  • Improve gas velocity
  • Improve exhaust pulse interaction
  • Reduce unnecessary flow restriction
  • Produce a smoother exhaust note

Fabspeed states that its X-pipe provides improved flow compared with the factory Porsche outlet design.

Direct Replacement For The Factory Outlet:

  • The Fabspeed Maxflo X-Pipe is designed as a direct replacement for the original Porsche T-outlet style tip assembly.
  • This means the factory mufflers remain in position.
  • The product is therefore an attractive option for owners who want improved flow, appearance and sound without replacing the complete rear exhaust system.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The factory exhaust outlet does not need to have failed before fitting this product.

The Fabspeed Maxflo True X-Pipe is primarily a performance, sound and styling upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • True X-pipe crossover design
  • Improved exhaust flow
  • Increased exhaust velocity
  • Reduced outlet turbulence
  • Manufacturer-reported +8 HP
  • Manufacturer-reported +5 lb-ft
  • Approx. 3 lb weight reduction
  • Sportier flat-six exhaust sound
  • Mild increase in exhaust volume
  • Large 4-inch / 102 mm dual tips
  • Multiple tip finishes
  • T304L stainless-steel construction
  • Carbon-fibre option
  • Direct replacement for the factory outlet
  • Retains the original rear mufflers
  • Simple bolt-on installation
  • No cutting or welding required

Fabspeed Supercup Race Exhaust System WITH Dual Outlet Upgrade.
The Fabspeed Porsche 911 Turbo 930 Supercup Race Exhaust System is a lightweight, high-flow performance exhaust developed for the classic Porsche 911 Turbo / 930.

NOTE: Dual Outlet Requires bumper cutout for second tip outlet on dual outlet configuration. A SIMPLE secondary hole matching outlet is made for a DUAL outlet system.

Fits:

  • Porsche 911 1976-1977 3.0L Turbo (930)
  • Porsche 911 1978-1989 3.3L Turbo (930)

Designed to replace the restrictive original rear exhaust with a substantially freer-flowing system, the Supercup Race Exhaust is aimed at enthusiasts seeking increased exhaust flow, reduced rear-end weight and a much more aggressive turbocharged flat-six sound.

Constructed from 3.0-inch / 76.5 mm CNC mandrel-bent 14–16 gauge T304 stainless-steel tubing, the system combines a high-flow resonated muffler design with a dual-outlet configurations and multiple exhaust-tip options.

Fabspeed lists manufacturer-reported gains of +22 HP and +16 lb-ft, together with an approximately 35 lb weight reduction. Actual performance will vary according to vehicle condition, specification, turbocharger, supporting modifications and testing conditions.

What This Product Does:
The exhaust system carries combustion gases away from the turbocharger and engine.

Any unnecessary restriction downstream of the turbo can increase exhaust backpressure and make it more difficult for gases to leave the system efficiently.

The Fabspeed Supercup Race Exhaust replaces the original rear exhaust arrangement with larger-diameter, freer-flowing pipework and a performance-oriented resonated muffler.

The system is designed to:

  • Improve exhaust-gas flow
  • Reduce exhaust restriction
  • Reduce exhaust backpressure
  • Improve turbocharged engine breathing
  • Increase performance potential
  • Improve throttle and turbo response
  • Reduce rear-end weight
  • Produce a significantly louder exhaust note
  • Enhance classic turbocharged flat-six character

Designed For Stock And K27 Turbo Applications:
  • The Supercup system is designed to bolt to the factory turbo arrangement and is also suitable for compatible K27 turbo-equipped 911 Turbo / 930 applications.
  • This makes it useful for both relatively standard vehicles and appropriately configured modified 930s.
  • Existing turbocharger and exhaust configuration should always be confirmed before ordering.

Aggressive Supercup Exhaust Sound:
The Supercup Race Exhaust is specifically designed for drivers seeking a considerably more aggressive exhaust note.

Compared with the original system, expect:

  • Significantly increased exhaust volume
  • Deeper turbocharged flat-six tone
  • More noticeable turbo sound
  • Stronger exhaust presence under acceleration
  • More pronounced high-RPM character
  • Motorsport-inspired exhaust sound

This is not intended to reproduce the quiet, restrained character of the factory exhaust.

Buyers should therefore consider their intended use and acceptable noise level before choosing a Supercup-style system.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The original exhaust does not need to have failed before fitting the Supercup system.

This product is primarily a performance, sound and weight-reduction upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • High-flow 3.0-inch / 76.5 mm tubing
  • Reduced exhaust restriction

Fabspeed Secondary Muffler Bypass Pipe.
The Fabspeed Porsche 964 Turbo / 965 / C2 Turbo Secondary Muffler Bypass Pipe is a performance exhaust upgrade designed to replace the factory secondary rear muffler with a freer-flowing stainless-steel pipe.

Fits:
  • Porsche 964 (911) TURBO 3.3L 1990-94
  • Porsche 964 (911) TURBO 3.6L 1990-94

Designed for both 3.3L and 3.6L Porsche 964 Turbo / 965 models, the bypass pipe reduces restriction in the rear exhaust system while retaining the vehicle's catalytic converter. This provides improved exhaust flow, sharper throttle response, reduced rear-end weight and a more pronounced turbocharged flat-six exhaust note.

Manufactured from 14–16 gauge CNC mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel, the pipe is a direct replacement for the original Porsche secondary muffler.

Fabspeed lists 12 HP and 10 lb-ft for this product and states that removing the factory secondary muffler saves approximately 25 lb / 11.4 kg from the rear of the vehicle. Performance figures are manufacturer-reported and actual results will vary according to vehicle specification, condition and testing environment.

What This Product Does:
The secondary muffler is positioned downstream of the catalytic converter and is primarily responsible for reducing exhaust noise before gases exit through the rear exhaust tip.

While effective at controlling sound, the internal chambers and passages of a conventional muffler can also create resistance to exhaust flow.

The Fabspeed Secondary Muffler Bypass Pipe removes this muffler and replaces it with a freer-flowing pipe.

The upgrade is designed to provide:

  • Improved exhaust-gas flow
  • Reduced rear exhaust restriction
  • Improved throttle response
  • Increased performance potential
  • Reduced rear-end weight
  • Stronger turbocharged flat-six exhaust sound
  • More pronounced turbo whistle
  • More direct exhaust path

Improved Exhaust Flow:
Replacing the factory secondary muffler removes internal chambers and sound-control structures from this section of the exhaust.

The resulting straighter exhaust route is designed to reduce restriction.

Potential benefits include:

  • Faster exhaust-gas evacuation
  • Reduced backpressure
  • Improved turbo exhaust flow
  • Sharper throttle response
  • Improved performance throughout the RPM range

The exact difference will depend on the condition and specification of the complete engine and exhaust system.

Enhanced Turbocharged Flat-Six Sound:
Removing the secondary muffler allows considerably more of the 964 Turbo's natural exhaust character to be heard.

The result is a deeper and more pronounced turbocharged flat-six sound, accompanied by increased turbo whistle.

Drivers can expect:

  • Deeper exhaust tone
  • Increased exhaust presence
  • Stronger sound under acceleration
  • More noticeable turbo whistle
  • More pronounced flat-six character
  • Sportier overall exhaust note

The final sound will depend on the rest of the exhaust system fitted to the vehicle.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The original secondary muffler does not need to have failed before this component is installed.

This product is primarily a performance, sound and weight-reduction upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • Removes the restrictive factory secondary muffler
  • Improves exhaust flow
  • Improves throttle response potential
  • Manufacturer-listed 12 HP / 10 lb-ft
  • Approx. 25 lb / 11.4 kg rear weight saving
  • Stronger turbocharged flat-six sound
  • More noticeable turbo whistle
  • Retains the catalytic converter
  • T304L stainless-steel construction
  • CNC mandrel-bent tubing
  • Direct replacement for the factory secondary muffler
  • Suitable for both 3.3L and 3.6L 964 Turbo applications

NOTE: In the United Kingdom, sports catalytic converters and bypass pipes do not have type approval and are not legally permitted for use on vehicles manufactured after 1st March 2001. They are not MOT compliant and cannot be used on public roads. These components are intended solely for race and track use.

For vehicles manufactured before 1st March 2001, a non-type approved sports catalytic converter may be fitted, provided it offers comparable performance to the original and the vehicle continues to meet the applicable emissions standards for its age. The vehicle must still pass an MOT test.

Fabspeed XperTune Performance Software.
The Fabspeed Porsche 970 Panamera V6 XperTune Performance Software is a custom ECU calibration designed to improve the performance and drivability of the 3.6-litre V6 Porsche Panamera.

Fits:
  • Porsche 970.1 Panamera V6 3.6L 2WD 2010-13
  • Porsche 970.1 Panamera 4 V6 3.6L 4WD 2010-13
  • Porsche 970.2 Panamera V6 3.6L 2WD (310Hp) 2014-16
  • Porsche 970.2 Panamera 4 V6 3.6L 4WD (310Hp) 2014-16

Rather than replacing a mechanical engine component, XperTune modifies the software calibration within the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU). The tune optimises selected engine-management parameters to make better use of the engine's available performance while taking the individual vehicle and its modifications into account.

The supplied XperTune handheld device connects through the Porsche's OBD-II diagnostic port, allowing the factory ECU file to be read and a custom Fabspeed calibration to be installed without removing and shipping the ECU.

Fabspeed lists the 3.6L V6 at 296 HP / 295 TQ in standard form and 314 HP / 310 TQ with its tune. These are manufacturer-reported figures from a specific test vehicle; actual results will vary according to vehicle condition, specification, fuel, modifications and environmental conditions.

What This Product Does:
The ECU controls many of the functions required to operate the engine correctly.

Its software calibration determines how the engine-management system responds to operating conditions and driver inputs.

Fabspeed XperTune provides a vehicle-specific performance calibration intended to optimise the engine's operation for improved performance and drivability.

Depending on the vehicle and its configuration, the tune is designed to provide benefits such as:

  • Increased horsepower
  • Increased torque
  • Improved throttle response
  • Sharper engine response
  • Improved power delivery
  • Better use of supporting performance modifications
  • More responsive overall driving characteristics

The calibration is created using information about the individual vehicle and its existing modifications.

Custom ECU Calibration:
XperTune is not simply a physical plug-in power module.

The handheld device is used to communicate with the factory ECU and install a custom software calibration.

The basic process involves:

  • Connecting the XperTune device to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
  • Reading the original ECU information.
  • Transferring the factory file using a compatible Windows PC.
  • Providing Fabspeed with the required vehicle and modification information.
  • Receiving the custom calibration.
  • Loading the tune onto the XperTune device.
  • Flashing the new calibration to the vehicle through the OBD-II port.

This avoids the need to remove the ECU and send it away for conventional bench flashing.

XperTune Device Considerations:

  • The XperTune handheld device is electronically paired, or "married," to the vehicle.
  • Fabspeed states that the device can only be used with one vehicle.
  • This is particularly important when purchasing, transferring or replacing tuning equipment.
  • A device already paired with another vehicle should not be assumed to work with a different Panamera.

Why Upgrade To Fabspeed XperTune:
A healthy factory ECU does not need to have failed for XperTune to be installed.

This product is primarily a performance upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • Manufacturer-reported horsepower increase
  • Manufacturer-reported torque increase
  • Improved throttle response
  • Improved engine response
  • Custom calibration based on vehicle specification
  • Support for compatible performance modifications
  • OBD-II flashing
  • No requirement to remove and mail the ECU
  • Ability to restore the stock calibration
  • Reusable access to the Fabspeed tune on the paired vehicle

Fabspeed Link Comp X-Pipe.
The Fabspeed Porsche 996 GT3 Cat Bypass X-Pipe is a high-performance competition exhaust component designed to replace the factory catalytic converters with a freer-flowing X-pipe arrangement.

Fits:
  • Porsche 996 GT3 MKI 1999-02
  • Porsche 996 GT3 MKII 2003>>

Developed for track and competition-focused Porsche 996 GT3 applications, the system removes the restrictive catalytic-converter section and provides a more direct route for exhaust gases leaving the engine.

By reducing exhaust restriction and allowing gases from both cylinder banks to merge through the X-pipe, the system is designed to improve exhaust flow, sharpen throttle response, reduce weight and produce a considerably more aggressive GT3 exhaust note.

What This Product Does:
The original catalytic converters form part of the vehicle's emissions-control system.

While catalysts treat exhaust gases, their internal substrates also create resistance to exhaust flow.

The Fabspeed Cat Bypass X-Pipe removes this catalytic restriction and replaces it with freer-flowing exhaust pipework.

The system is designed to:

  • Remove the restrictive factory catalytic converters
  • Increase exhaust-gas flow
  • Reduce exhaust backpressure
  • Improve engine breathing
  • Improve throttle response
  • Increase horsepower and torque potential
  • Reduce exhaust-system weight
  • Increase exhaust volume
  • Produce a more aggressive motorsport-inspired sound

Because the catalytic converters are removed, this is fundamentally different from a Sport Cat system.

X-Pipe Design:
An X-pipe connects the exhaust streams from the two cylinder banks.

Rather than keeping both exhaust paths completely separate, the crossover allows pressure pulses from each bank to interact.

A properly designed X-pipe can help:

  • Balance exhaust pulses
  • Improve gas-flow transitions
  • Reduce turbulence
  • Improve exhaust scavenging
  • Support high-RPM performance
  • Create a smoother, more exotic exhaust tone

This is particularly suited to the naturally aspirated, high-revving flat-six engine used in the 996 GT3.

Maximum Exhaust Flow:
Removing the catalytic substrates eliminates one of the major restrictions in the exhaust system.

This creates a substantially more open exhaust route.

Potential benefits include:

  • Reduced exhaust backpressure
  • Faster exhaust evacuation
  • Improved engine breathing
  • Sharper throttle response
  • Stronger high-RPM performance
  • Increased performance potential

Actual performance depends on the complete vehicle configuration.

Why Upgrading Matters:
The factory catalytic converters do not need to have failed for this component to be installed.

The Cat Bypass X-Pipe is primarily a competition performance upgrade.

Reasons for upgrading include:

  • Maximum exhaust-gas flow
  • Elimination of catalytic-converter restriction
  • Reduced exhaust backpressure
  • Improved throttle response potential
  • Increased horsepower and torque potential
  • Reduced exhaust-system weight
  • More aggressive GT3 exhaust sound
  • Improved high-RPM exhaust character
  • X-pipe crossover design
  • Track-focused configuration

It is particularly suited to vehicles where performance and exhaust flow take priority over road-use emissions requirements.

If you are located outside the UK, please check your local laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
