Caliper Cooler Kit for 996 Turbo or Carrera 4S with Larger 350 mm Rotors (not PCCB)

A popular upgrade to the 996 Carrera 4S and Turbo is larger diameter rotors – swapping out stock 330 mm rotors to larger 350 mm rotors like those on the 997 Turbo. This change provides better braking action and feel.
Rennkit™ has the solution: Cal*Cool™ brake caliper coolers. A quick modification that allows excess heat to dissipate much faster. Conductive and convective heat transfer quickly dissipates brake caliper heat while driving. When parked, conductive and radiative heat transfer continue to effectively remove heat from hot calipers. Track tested – all 4 corners remained below 370F:

Fast Road / Trackday Front Brake Disc & Pad Package

A complete front braking upgrade combining 9M two-piece floating slotted iron brake discs with matching 9M fast road and trackday brake pads.

Fits:

  • Porsche 996 GT2 2001-05
  • Porsche 996 GT3 MKII 2003>>
  • Porsche 996 GT3 RS 2003-04
  • Porsche 997 MK1 GT3 / GT3 RS 2007-09
  • Porsche 997 MK1 GT2 2007-09
  • Porsche 997 MKII GT3 / GT3 RS 2010-11
  • Porsche 997 MKII GT2 RS 2011-13

Developed for demanding road driving and track use, this package combines improved disc cooling and thermal management with a high-friction, fade-resistant brake pad compound. The result is increased stopping performance, consistent pedal feel and greater resistance to the high temperatures generated during repeated heavy braking.

Not compatible with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) discs.

What Does the Package Include?

The package combines:

  • Two-piece floating front brake disc assemblies
  • Slotted high-carbon iron rotor rings
  • CNC-machined aluminium bells/hats
  • 9M fast road / trackday front brake pads

The discs and pads have been selected to work together as a performance-focused braking package for fast-road, trackday and competition applications.

Two-Piece Floating Front Brake Discs

The 9M front discs use a two-piece floating construction with a high-carbon cast iron friction ring mounted to a lightweight aluminium bell.

The floating arrangement allows controlled movement between the rotor and bell as temperatures increase, helping accommodate thermal expansion and reduce stress within the disc assembly.

Benefits include:

  • Improved thermal management
  • Reduced risk of heat-related distortion
  • Reduced tendency towards brake vibration
  • Consistent performance during repeated heavy braking
  • Lightweight aluminium centre bell
  • Improved cooling compared with conventional disc designs

72-Vane Cooling System

Each rotor features 72 internal cooling vanes designed to move air efficiently through the disc.

This increased airflow helps dissipate heat generated under braking, making the system particularly suited to repeated high-speed stops during spirited road driving and track use.

CM-250 High-Carbon Iron Rotors

The rotor rings are manufactured from CM-250 formulated high-carbon alloy cast iron, providing strength and durability at elevated operating temperatures.

Each rotor ring is heat treated to relieve internal material stresses, helping maintain dimensional stability and reduce the possibility of deformation and vibration through repeated heating and cooling cycles.

CNC-Machined Aluminium Bells

The centre bells are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminium before being hard anodised for increased surface protection and durability.

The aluminium construction also helps reduce rotating and unsprung mass compared with an equivalent one-piece iron disc.

9M Fast Road / Trackday Brake Pads

The package includes 9M performance front brake pads developed to complement the upgraded iron discs.

The low-metallic, resin-bonded friction material contains steel and aramid fibres and provides a high coefficient of friction of approximately 0.55.

The compound combines strong stopping power with excellent modulation, predictable release characteristics and high resistance to brake fade.

Fast Road & Trackday Performance

During repeated heavy braking, conventional road pads can exceed their optimum operating temperature and begin to lose effectiveness.

The 9M compound is designed to maintain consistent braking characteristics throughout its effective temperature range, providing a solid and predictable pedal feel during demanding driving.

Benefits include:

  • High coefficient of friction – approximately 0.55
  • Increased stopping performance
  • Excellent fade resistance
  • Consistent braking at elevated temperatures
  • Good pedal modulation
  • Predictable brake release
  • Solid pedal feel
  • Excellent pad and rotor life
  • Suitable for fast-road driving
  • Suitable for high-speed trackdays and competition use

Important PCCB Information

This brake disc and pad package is not compatible with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) discs.

It is intended for vehicles using the appropriate iron/steel braking configuration. Always confirm the brake system fitted to the vehicle before ordering.

Fast Road and Track Brake Upgrades

For Porsche GT models used for fast-road driving and trackdays, upgrading the front discs and pads together provides a more complete approach to improving braking performance.

The 9M package combines floating high-carbon iron discs with a high-friction pad compound, improving heat management, fade resistance, pedal consistency and stopping performance during repeated hard braking.

It is particularly suited to Porsche 996 GT2, 996.2 GT3, 997 GT3 and GT3 RS owners looking for a matched front brake upgrade for performance road driving, trackdays and competition use.

99735140601 Front Right

The Porsche 996 Turbo and C4S model was designed and built with high performance braking in mind. However, this amazing platform has now become a popular vehicle for the track use. With track racing comes the needs for improved braking over what the stock 4piston 330mm brakes can handle. Brake engineering at the simplest is about how you can have clamping force over a large surface area and dissipate the heat to keep the brakes from fading.

What has Designtek engineered is a Plus 1 Bracket Kit which allows you to take the factory 4piston 330mm brakes and upgrade to the 350mm OEM rotors that are found on the Porsche 997 Turbo.

This bracket kit is essentially a spacer that goes between your caliper and the wheel carrier to allow your caliper to fit over the larger rotors. The larger rotors will give you increased surface area to provide you better braking and longer pad life. Our brackets are CNC machined 6061 aluminum to keep the weight down. Since this is an important safety component, we have had the brackets hard anodized.

Each Kit is sold as a pair of fronts or pair of rears. These kits fit all 2001-2005 Porsche 996 Turbo or C4S with standard non ceramic brakes.

About SPORTS Brake Disc

Experience race-inspired stopping power with Porsche sports brake discs from Design911. Designed for performance driving, these upgraded brake rotors provide greater heat dissipation, improved bite, and enhanced fade resistance, ensuring confidence under even the most demanding conditions.

What They Are & What They Do
Sports brake discs (or rotors) are precision-engineered components that work with brake pads to generate friction and stop the car effectively. Unlike standard discs, sports variants are often drilled, grooved, or slotted, helping to vent heat and gases, improve braking response, and maintain consistent performance during high-speed or repeated stops.

Why They Fail
Over time, brake discs wear down from heat cycles, friction, and corrosion. Common signs of failure include scoring, warping, cracking, or vibration during braking. Track use or aggressive driving can accelerate wear, while low-quality discs may develop hotspots and fade under stress.

Why They Should Be Replaced
Replacing worn or damaged brake discs restores optimal braking efficiency, pedal feel, and vehicle control. New sports discs not only improve performance and safety but also extend pad life and reduce fade, ensuring Porsche’s legendary stopping precision. Design911 offers genuine Porsche discs for factory performance and aftermarket upgrades for enhanced durability and responsiveness.
