Fits:
Porsche 911 1974 - 1986 (915 Gearbox)
Diagram ref no 8.
The Genuine Porsche 91130231608 synchro brake band is an OE gearbox synchroniser component for 3rd, 4th and 5th gear in Porsche 911 models fitted with the 915 manual transmission. It helps control gear speed during shifting, supports smoother gear engagement and is commonly replaced during 915 gearbox rebuilds, synchro repairs or transmission restoration work.
This part fits inside the manual gearbox, within the synchroniser assembly for 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. It is not an external service item and requires gearbox disassembly for installation.
On the Porsche 915 gearbox diagram, this part is associated with the internal synchro / brake band assembly.
Functions
• Forms part of the gearbox synchroniser assembly
• Helps control and slow gear rotation during gear selection
• Supports smoother engagement of 3rd, 4th and 5th gears
• Helps reduce gear crunching, baulking or grinding during shifts
• Works with the synchro ring, dog teeth and slider components
• Helps restore correct synchroniser operation during gearbox rebuilds
• Maintains factory-correct Porsche transmission performance when fitted with matching OE gearbox components
Why Replace This Part?
The synchro brake band is a wear component inside the manual gearbox. Over time, repeated gear changes, high mileage, worn oil, aggressive shifting or previous gearbox wear can reduce its effectiveness. A worn brake band may no longer control gear speed correctly, which can lead to difficult shifting, gear crunching or poor synchroniser performance. Replacing the worn brake band with a Genuine Porsche OE synchro brake band helps restore correct synchroniser function and supports smooth, precise gear engagement in the 915 gearbox.
When to replace
• During a Porsche 915 gearbox rebuild or overhaul
• If 3rd, 4th or 5th gear engagement is difficult or notchy
• If the gearbox crunches or grinds during gear changes
• When replacing synchro rings, dog teeth or slider sleeves
• If inspection shows wear, glazing, cracking or damage
• When restoring the gearbox to original Porsche specification
• As part of preventative maintenance during transmission disassembly.

This lock nut fits in the suspension assembly, at the control arm to wheel carrier mounting point. Depending on the model, it may be used on front or rear suspension arm connections where Porsche specifies an M12 x 1.5 locking nut.
Functions
• Secures the control arm to the wheel carrier
• Provides a factory-correct M12 x 1.5 locking fastening point
• Helps maintain suspension arm stability and alignment
• Prevents loosening caused by road vibration and suspension movement
• Supports correct suspension geometry and wheel control
• Helps ensure safe and secure mounting of chassis components
• Provides OE Porsche fitment, thread size and fastening quality.
Control arm lock nuts are exposed to road dirt, moisture, corrosion and high suspension loads. Over time, the nut can corrode, seize, round off or lose its locking ability. Because this fastener secures a critical suspension joint, it is good practice to replace it whenever the control arm is removed or replaced.
Using a Genuine Porsche OE lock nut helps ensure the control arm is correctly secured to the wheel carrier and maintains the factory-standard suspension assembly.
When to replace
• When replacing a control arm, wishbone or coffin arm
• When removing or refitting the arm-to-wheel-carrier joint
• If the original nut is corroded, seized or damaged
• If the thread is worn or the locking function is compromised
• During suspension overhaul or chassis repair work
• After accident repair or wheel carrier replacement
• When restoring the suspension with correct OE Porsche hardware.

Diagram ref no 18
This O-ring fits in the engine cooling system, at the joining socket / coolant inlet flange connection for the water pump housing. It is positioned in the rear engine area where the coolant pipework connects to the water pump housing assembly.
Functions:
• Seals the joining socket connection at the water pump housing
• Helps prevent coolant leaks from the water pump housing area
• Maintains correct cooling system pressure
• Supports reliable coolant flow through the engine cooling circuit
• Helps protect surrounding engine components from coolant seepage
• Provides an OE-quality replacement seal for Porsche cooling system repairs
• Ensures correct fitment when refitting the joining socket, water pump housing or related coolant flange
O-ring seals can harden, flatten, crack or perish over time due to heat cycles, coolant exposure and engine vibration. Once the seal loses its elasticity, coolant can begin to seep or leak from the joining socket or water pump housing area. Replacing the O-ring with a Genuine Porsche OE seal helps restore the correct sealing performance and reduces the risk of coolant loss, pressure drop or overheating issues. It is also good practice to replace this seal whenever the joining socket or water pump housing is removed.
When to replace
• When coolant is leaking from the water pump housing or joining socket area
• During water pump, thermostat or coolant flange replacement
• When the joining socket is removed or refitted
• If the original O-ring is flattened, brittle, swollen or cracked
• During engine cooling system repairs or restoration work
• When carrying out preventative maintenance on older Porsche Turbo or GT3 models
• If the cooling system is losing pressure or showing signs of seepage
Where it fits on the car
This O-ring fits in the engine cooling system at the water pump housing area. On the diagram, it is shown as item number 18, sealing the coolant pipe/joining socket connection. It works with the adjoining coolant pipe fittings and sealing components to keep the water pump housing connection leak-free.
